Iron Chef Family Restaurant

After disgracing myself at the Paul Mostoway Dog Park by barking at toddlers and lapping from a questionable puddle, I knew Saskatoon could no longer hold me. I whispered goodbye to the city through Mazda Linda’s exhaust pipe and hit Highway 7—westward, toward Calgary.
A big city. A new chapter. A fresh arena in which to shed my mortal form.

But first—Rosetown.
Population: People.
Purpose: Unknown.
Iron Chef Family Restaurant: Salvation.

I parked Linda behind the building and watched a pigeon high-five its own reflection in the window. That’s when I knew I was in the right place.

I walked in smelling like despair, drywall, and faint dog shame. No one judged me. The waitress simply said, “Coffee?”
I nodded.
She poured.
It hissed like prophecy.

I ordered the fish and chips because I needed to be grounded—and battered cod is the earth’s emotional anchor. It arrived on a plate that looked like it had been blessed by Neptune himself. I swear I heard a sea shanty when the lemon touched the fish.

Every bite unlocked something in me:

The first bite: childhood memory of a trampoline made of ham.

The second bite: a vision of my mattress waving goodbye in Stony Rapids.

The third: I remembered my real name (Greg, probably?).

The fourth: my molar whispered “thank you.” It was weird.

The fries were golden confessionals. The tartar sauce sang to me. The coleslaw judged me, and I liked it.

The waitress returned and asked, “Dessert?”
I said, “Emotionally, yes. Physically, no.”
She understood. She handed me a peppermint and a look that said “heal now, stranger.”

Five stars.
For the food.
For the warmth.
For not asking why I was carrying a single sock filled with coins and loose nails.

Iron Chef Family Restaurant is not just a place to eat.
It is a threshold, a portal, a buttery baptism.
I entered broken. I left full of fish and unspeakable power.

Highly recommend.

Dong and Donna are amazing. The soups are homemade, you get what you pay for when looking at the menu prices. Worth the drive.

We were there for lunch. It was the middle of the week and the day. The group was there to share a big table for the meeting and they picked this restaurant.
There is enough parking if you will be driving to there.
We have the table in the middle and the restaurant is quite full.
I think everybody likes the location, food, service, …
It was my first visit but I am really thankful for the serving lady who wears a smile and very delightful. She serves us well and comes by for greetings, menu, food, drinks, ask if we need any dressings, drinks, …
I definitely feel she is the highlight of the day.
I believe all the people enjoy the food too. They finish them well and go with a grateful heart.

What a fabulous eatery find this was! I had the fish and chips special at $15, so good and great value. The waitress was charming. You definitely should check this out, you won't leave hungry, that's for sure. Quant town too....
