Went to Brunch at Joe’s for the first time today. It’s a small ‘hidden gem’ kind of place in the city. I’d never heard about it until a friend suggested we check it out. Starting off with appearance/ambience. I liked that the building has a kind of kitty corner stow front with steps leading up to the main entrance. It gives a unique look to it right off the bat. Getting inside, you can tell that the space was used to its full potential the way the booths are set up, and with that, still lots of space. Cozy but comfortable. Nice touch that there are tvs set up with programs on to keep patrons occupied while waiting for their orders to come out. Our waiter was friendly and upbeat, treated us like we were family coming in for a visit. I’m one of those people who tend to order ‘safe’ things when it comes to my first visit to a restaurant I’ve not been to before. Typically chicken fingers or a simple sandwich. Today I ordered their beef dip. It was very good. The sandwich had more beef in it than most places are willing to give. Unfortunately my photo doesn’t showcase this very well at the angle I took it, but I was pleasantly surprised with what I received. And the fries were beautifully crisped, paired with a side of gravy that had a taste that I can’t quite describe for the best reasons possible. It was flavourful and so much tastier than the gravies most restaurants come up with. Overall this was a good experience and I’ll likely be back again at some point to try something else :)
