I have been in the middle east and can relate what sort of food this may be. But trust me their only disappointment is their pricing and it's expensive. Food is great but too expensive

I ordered the alfredo pasta and I was so disappointed by the taste I only could eat a few bites. It had no flavor, over cooked and just salty. However, I will give this place another try since the reviews suggest they are known for their other dishes.

Visited this place for the first time earlier this week, and overall, it was okay. However, while sitting at the bar, I overheard two servers making extremely unprofessional and homophobic comments about another customer. They were mocking how someone was drinking their drink, and their remarks came across as offensive and disrespectful. From what I’ve heard, these employees might be related to the ownership, which is even more disappointing. Unfortunately, this experience has left a bad impression, and I won’t be returning. Thanks, Google, for prompting me to share this feedback.

The falafel wrap has a spice in it I wasn’t expecting and really didn’t care for. It just took over the whole dish. The beef kabob wrap was okay. The favor wasn’t bad and I initially liked it but the proportion of things in the wrap was a little off. Otherwise it was good. Prices seemed reasonable and the serving size was good!

I got 2 different meals which had very large portion sizes. The Ishtar plate had 3 portions of meat (chicken, beef, and lamb?), rice, and Iraqi bread. I also got the Ishtar chicken wrap which was loaded with chicken. On top of that- each included a soup and salad for sides- which seemed very reasonable for $58. We chose the Greek salad (which they were able to customize to our liking) and fattoush salad. Everything was fresh tasting and hot (except the salad which was appropriately cold). We would definitely go back and try more things! The only feedback I have is that the wrap didn’t have many veggies in it- which would’ve made it a little better. But that is totally personal preference. Highly enjoyed and have 2 portions of leftovers for tomorrow :)

The Reviewer's Diary

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Star of Ishtar Restaurant in Sutherland for the second time, and it has quickly become one of the nicest restaurants in Saskatoon. This time, I opted for the Ishtar Beef Wrap, served with French fries and a fresh salad, and it was absolutely delicious. The beef was tender, well-seasoned, and the fries were crisp and flavorful. My friend chose the Mushroom Swiss Burger, and we were both pleasantly surprised by the generous portion sizes. In fact, the servings were so large that we had leftovers to take home, which is always a nice treat.

Geanna, who served us, was a true delight. Her warm, friendly demeanor made the experience even more enjoyable. She thoughtfully offered us complimentary fries and hummus, explaining they were testing a new recipe, and it was a fantastic addition to our meal. The hummus was especially flavorful and fresh.

One of the standout features of Star of Ishtar is its atmosphere. The restaurant is immaculate and well-maintained, with a relaxed, quiet ambiance complemented by soft background music. It’s the perfect spot to enjoy a meal in peace while still soaking in the friendly energy of the place. During my first visit, I tried the Chicken Wrap, which was just as impressive as this time’s beef wrap.

My friend was particularly pleased with the food, the portion sizes, and the cleanliness, and he’s already looking forward to his next visit. If you’re in Saskatoon and searching for a quiet, welcoming spot with great food, attentive service, and a bit of music in the background, Star of Ishtar is the perfect choice.
