We’ve had the Homestead a few times since moving here 2 years ago and typically, everything’s been pretty good. We live in a neighbouring small town so it’s nice to have a meal out. So we came here tonight with family during dinner hour (New Year’s Eve), and the service was horrible. They had one server and a cook. First red flag was the amount of people in the restaurant with only one person serving. We asked 3 separate times for the table to be wiped clean because there were visible crumbs and he wouldn’t even do that. Just kept brushing it off. After 30 minutes of sitting there, the server finally came up and we ordered 2 burgers, baked spaghetti, a small Caesar salad, and 3 drinks. End of the experience came and all he had brought us was the 2 burgers and spaghetti. No drinks. No salad. We even asked for ketchup at one point and that didn’t happen, so we snagged one off a neighbouring table. At the end when the time came to pay the bill, the server tried charging us for the food and drinks WE DIDN’T GET. He started going through the list announcing the total until my fiancé told him we didn’t get the drinks or the salad. Only then did he adjust it and he was not happy he had to. We were regular customers but most likely won’t be going back. Food was greasy and service was non existent. I understand it being busy on a holiday and I felt bad for the server being swamped, but they should line up staffing better.

Stopped for lunch here after a work event. The staff were polite and professional. Food was prepared quickly and quite good, and reasonably priced. I would recommend any passing through Wynyard to stop here for a good meal.

Doesn't answer the phone multiple times then says they won't take a pickup order 30 mins before they close. If they answered the first time it would have been an hour before they closed. All good ill take business to places that want it.
