You can't go wrong with sling shot Charlie's. This place is heaven and me, my mom, and sister always used to come here. It's the only part of west Tennessee I truly miss. There food is ALWAYS on point, seasoned well, and cooked to perfection. My mom and I have been trying to figure out the dressing for years. Go ahead and go get you a lil taste of paradise if you're down there.

So glad we skipped the chain restaurants on the interstate! Food was great! Butter beans were amazing! Haven't had them in years!! Friendly and hard working staff! Atmosphere is fun with lots to look at. Bathrooms are clean.

For the catfish filet, I would give a MINUS ONE, if there was such a rating. If you don't want to be absolutely cheated out of $15, DO NO ORDER IT.
On 7-23-2025, I visited Slingshot for the first time. I ordered a fried catfish filet and a couple of vegetables. I will say the place was clean. The service was great. The fried vegetable (squash and green tomatoes) were well breaded and seasoned. The catfish filet was very small and paper thin. A few bites were hard to chew because of it being overcooked. When I consider that I paid $14.99 for it, I am sickened. Slingshot is about a 40 minute drive from where I live , and it most definitely is not worth the drive. The vegetables were good, but even that doesn't warrant a trip around the world to get there.

Well I had high hopes but the food but missed by a country mile. I don’t want any one to waste their money or drive way out here for this food. My catfish was small and over priced with white beans that needed a little more seasoning. No collard greens they only have turnip. My peach cobbler was swim in juice and the atmosphere was the most Southern part about it to be honest.

Seriously, some of the best comfort food I’ve had in my life. Born and raised in south MS, 6 years in Louisiana. The seasoning was divine, that atmosphere was cute and comfortable. I really can’t say enough positive! Don’t sleep on it! Portions are huge and prices are fair!
