My kids and I stopped here today, and it was such a treat! I can't remember our waitress name but she was so sweet and very informative if the menu. I got a cup of the chicken and sausage gumbo and it was delicious! I also ordered the fried shrimp platter with a side of catfish. I don't care for tartar or cocktail sauce, so she recommend the Cajun dipping sauce which was SOOOO good. The shrimp were seasoned to perfection, the fries were good and seasoned BUT the catfish was a let down. No seasoning on it at all, however I do recommend the cook to season it with whatever seasonings that were on the shrimp 😊. My daughter had the kids chicken strips and corn, and she loved it. I can definitely say that I will return to try more of the menu. Oh, and the sweet tea was awesome 👍🏽

My family and I went for the first time at lunch today. We went with the intent of eating El Idolo and not knowing they had closed and new resturant (Ragin' Cajun) was there. We gave it a try. We were greeted at the door and the hostess advised us it was very loud inside (because of jazz band). Resturant was not very busy. We sat at our table for about 20 minutes and were never acknowledged. I finally had to ask a waitress that walked by if she could get someone come take our drink orders. She went to the back and we made the decision to just leave. I feared a bad experience brewing. The staff was doing more standing around talking than serving guest. Do better Ragin' Cajun.

Stopped at Ragin Cajun on a whim and got lunch. It was delicious! I had the lunch special 1/2 sandwich and soup, the roast beef Po boy and seafood gumbo with boudin balls and side of red beans and rice. It was definitely too much food for one person but worth it for leftovers!
One of the servers walked by and said oh is it good? I said yep! she said yeah I heard you said mmmmm when you bit into the sandwich 😂
Ashley was the bartender and server and was great!
Oh and the Rougarou drink!

This place is amazing!!! Wish I could give it 10 stars. Ashley and Sabrina are wonderful and very friendly. The whole staff is great. Red beans and rice are some of the best I've ever had. Will definitely be back and I highly recommend Rajun Cajun!

🙂We've been there about 5 times now. I keep going back for the Crawfish Etouffee and other dishes. We're from New Orleans and know good NOLA food when we find it. The PO-BOYs are made with real French bread and the shrimp and oysters are properly seasoned (though the size of the over-stuffed sandwich is on the small side compared to some NOLA restaurants). The Muffuletta is larger and tastes great. The stand out dish for me is the excellent Crawfish and Andouille pasta! Rich and flavorful. The gumbo is 'okay' for restaurant gumbo but I pass on it - get the Etouffee instead! (no restaurant outside of NOLA, and very few in the city, can be as good as mom's home made gumbo.) The spice level is low on all the dishes so no worries for anyone with a sensitive pallet. The casual atmosphere has a good vibe and the staff is eager to please. They also have Abita Amber on tap! Haven't been there for brunch yet but I understand they have bottomless Mimosas! Finally, save room for the white chocolate bread pudding. SOOOO GOOD! Served hot and pretty much perfect!

I was amazed at their red beans and rice. I haven't had anything this good in Memphis. The seasoning was spot on. I was raised on the Mississippi coast and I can tell you this is great Cajun food.

Couldn't pass up a poboy, so stopped in for one and some boudin. Instead of the regular fried catfish, shrimp, oyster, or gator poboy, I went with a pork shoulder one. Meat was like a pulled pork you'd get from a BBQ place, topped with slaw and bread/sandwich size was a little smaller than what I'm accustomed to from Louisiana...but, all in all, wasn't too bad. Also, the boudin I had as an appetizer was pretty tasty and had a good, complementary spicy kick to it. Food service was a little slow, but the food was served fresh and hot...so, overall worth the wait. I'd go again (and again) to try out the red beans and rice, gumbo, jambalaya, and other poboys on the menu😅

If this is what passes for “Cajun” food, then I owe Louisiana an apology for even stepping foot in this place. Everything tasted like it had been deep-fried in the same oil that they used when this place first opened, with a sprinkle of “Cajun” seasoning just for show. The shrimp platter was just one lonely shrimp surrounded by a sad, greasy ball of what I can only assume were its salad-shrimp cousins, all fused together in an unholy seafood nuggets. The gumbo was so bland it felt like someone Googled “gumbo recipe,” got bored halfway through, and just poured into the bowl.

The service wasn't any better. Asking for a refill felt like I was negotiating a hostage release, and our group’s food arrived as if the kitchen was rolling dice to decide who ate first.

The “decor” consisted of a few plastic beads and dollar-store masks, which made the whole place look less like Mardi Gras and more like Mardi Gross

If you want real Cajun flavor, do yourself a favor and just lick the inside of a Tony Chachere’s container it will get you close than this place will.
