Not really fair to give a review, because I didn’t get to dine in. I drove 45 minutes because their hours were posted “Open” but they were not. Would like to come back and try it.
Only gave this restaurant 3 stars just because was my first time there and I placed my order but the cashier rang up my order but didn't fully write it on ticket. I spent a hour total waiting on to go food and got first order then had to wake on rest to be cooked. So some of the order was cold an soggy by time got home while the other was fresh and hot. I'll be willing to give it one more shot tho. Lots of smiling faces there

I stopped at Backwoods bolivar while passing through on my way back to Kentucky, and I’m so glad I did! The food was amazing — I got the Bang Bang Chicken, and it was absolutely delicious. The flavor had the perfect balance of spice and sweetness, and everything tasted super fresh. The staff was friendly and welcoming, and the whole place had that cozy, down-home feel that makes you want to come back. Definitely worth the stop — I’ll be eating here again next time I’m in the area!

Kids loved the real milkshakes.
Stuffed baked potatoes were loaded with meat.
Thursday rib dinner was a nice combo of sides and good flavors at a good local price. Fried pickles were great too.

after years of research hands down the best cheeseburger and onion rings in Hardeman co. , and a order of a western omelet and loaded hash browns is enough for 2 !!! pricing is very reasonable with very friendly service. and now serving lunch and dinner specials daily , come on in and enjoy !!!

They said this was the best in town, they microwaved a red baron personal pizza and served it with undercooked fries, don’t walk run from this place I don’t think most of the problem in here have eaten anywhere else or they would not of left good reviews, that or the other 107 reviews are friends and didn’t want to hurt there feelings, I’ve had better gas station food, don’t waste your money drive to Jackson or stop at dollar general and make your own fried bologna sandwiches

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Just Like Mama Used to Make — Maybe Better
Backwoods of Bolivar is the kind of place that makes you feel like you’ve found a little piece of home. The food is more than just good—it’s homemade, hand-battered, and full of real Southern flavor.
On my most recent visit, I had the meatloaf, and it was hands-down some of the best I’ve ever had. Moist, well-seasoned, and cooked just right. You can taste the difference when food is made from scratch. The sides—mashed potatoes and beans—were just as impressive. Nothing felt mass-produced or microwaved. This is comfort food done the right way.
The atmosphere at Backwoods is laid-back and welcoming, with that small-town charm that puts you at ease. And the service? Top notch. Our waitress, Renée, was incredibly friendly, helpful, and professional. She made us feel like regulars even though we weren’t.
And with prices that are more than fair, you get a satisfying meal without breaking the bank.
If you’re craving real, honest food that tastes like it was cooked with love, Backwoods of Bolivar is where you want to be. I’ll definitely be back.

A fun and quirky old style type diner with the type of food grandma prepared! Friendly staff and very reasonable prices!!
a very bad experience food not done waitress was very hateful.
First place I've found that trys to accommodate those with Alpha-Gal Syndrome. The cook personally discussed options available and my needs. I'll be returning.
