No.1 Chinese Restaurant（in Brentwood)

Absolutely disgusting. I ordered chicken fried rice and a roach was in it. My family has been eating at this restaurant for 20 years and i’m so disappointed.

Chicken was sitting out in bucket on the floor. Very greasy food. Staff do not engage with customers overall food quality fair.

Our experience is hard to convey. We didn’t want take out so we called to see if we could eat in their restaurant. The woman who answered the phone said yes. We ordered at the counter, we were the only ones in the restaurant. I asked where the restroom was and was told they did not have one. The man who took our order directed me to the Honey Baked Ham store a few store away. He handed me a piece of paper that he scribbled a code on. I just didn’t know what he was saying or what the code was for. I headed to the HB store and told the man working there that the Chinese man told me to use their facilities. The restroom door was unlocked, so I still don’t know what the code was for. We sat at a table and our egg rolls were served. Just thrown on the table really. No plate. The soy sauce we tried to use dripped all over….Such a mess. They were good, very hot and hard to try and eat without a knife. They only had plastic spoons and forks at the counter. The minute our food came the Chinese woman got on a phone call. She had the speaker on and the loud conversation in Chinese was unbelievably annoying. I had shrimp with lobster sauce and it was impossible to eat without a knife, plastic forks no picnic either. This was like a picnic come to think of it. My husband had a hard time with the chicken chow mein, but not as hard to eat as the shrimp. I interrupted her phone call to ask for a knife, which they keep behind the counter apparently. We ate our meals out of the plastic containers and left. The woman was still on the phone when we left ! If you don’t want people to eat in your restaurant don’t have a table and don’t tell them when they call that they can dine in. What a miserable experience and what a rude woman to be talking on her phone on the top of her lungs in Chinese. Neither of them ever asked how our meals were or offered any kindness or service. I might have considered take out in the future, but these rude people don’t deserve our business. One & done with them !

Chinese lady at register was a bit, well... snooty. However, the food was amazing! I ate there 3x the week I was in that arra fir work.

The lady at front desk was very unpolite , she had made face with attitude and unprofessional customer service! When I entered the store she jumped out from inside kitchen and told me what do you need!! That was my first time going there try their food but I didn’t have good experience

We have traveled to and from Brentwood several times recently both in the course of travel to and from east TN. as well as committing to surgery with a local surgeon. We very much appreciate the Family Meals of No 1 Chinese Restaurant. They have been an answer to prayer. I am physically impaired at the moment. The Family Meal to go from No. 1 Chinese Restaurant has always tasted good so far, has always been ready promptly, placed in sturdy containers & the portions generous. This has provided real problem solving for us. My 5 star review is based on VALUE as much as taste.

The food is always hot, flavorful, and on time.

First time coming here. I ordered the shrimp egg foo young and fried shrimp. The egg foo young was burnt, and the fried shrimp was in so much breading. It should be called "fried bread with shrimp!" Yeah, won't be returning.

We were so sick after eating take out, and I’m so sad this place has deteriorated to this point. We have ordered food many times here, and thought it was tasty. But the night my daughter and I ordered beef broccoli and a tofu vegetable dish, it sent us to the bathroom pxxxxxg it all out within 15 minutes of eating. They must have made both dishes in the same wok, idk. Since Covid, it seems the inside has become more dirty, and the girl at the counter seems annoyed you walked in. I’m not sure where to go next for Chinese or Asian food, but we did try Jasmine on Moore’s Lane a few times. I’m a little unsure about that too. The Tennessee paper had a health inspection on Jasmine last month that only scored 70. They had rice bags on the floor outside in a shed, the walls were dirty, and the workers never washed their hands, according to the newspaper. Anyways, we’re done with #1 China, and I just wanted to share our awful experience so you can decide for yourself if their food is worth the risk.
