We came to Bristol with no knowledge of Janie’s Restaurant. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. Janie waited on us herself and although she was shuffling five or six tables, she gave us plenty of her time. Once we had ordered our drinks (in oversized cups which is awesome), we ordered an appetizer of chips and salsa. They dropped fresh chips in the fryer which came out hot and delicious. The salsa was chucks and flavorful!
We ordered the chicken livers and the country fried chicken. The livers were cooked perfectly, which is not easy, they were properly cooked but not dried out. The flavor was very nice. The country fried chicken was a generous breast cooked nicely and covered with a creamy flavorful country gravey. The sides were generous and all cooked well.
I normally don’t order desert but after listening to how they prepare the apple upside down cake, we decided to share an order. The cake was very flavorful and warm, it was served with two scoops of icecream.
The pricing is more than fair for the quality and portion size. If you are in Bristol make it a point to check out Janie’s!

Very friendly owner & staff, plenty of parking. Food was down home cooking with lots of choices and specials. We liked the huge drink size too. Restaurant & restroom were spotless. Glad we checked out Janie's place!

We looked for a local restaurant while visiting the area and found at Janie’s great food! It was home cooking and just the perfect ambiance for our scenic trip. The service was excellent and the southern food and hospitality awesome. Don’t skip the fried tomatoes, the fried catfish and the apple upside down cake 😋
We had fish and chicken that was delicious! Fun atmosphere and very enjoyable. Janie was our waitress and she was delightful! Great value!

Service was great. Crabcakes for spicy. I told him I needed no spice.
Corn nuggets were good
The second meal was chicken breast, corn, and mashed potatoes. It was obviously canned corn that nothing added to it just really wasn’t very good.

We were in town for the NASCAR race. I googled best place to eat, Janie’s place was the first to come up. There was 5 of us, Janie herself waited on us. She was so sweet and attentive. The food was amazing. If we ever come back to Bristol, we will come here again for sure.

Restaurantji Recommends
My wife and I happened upon this restaurant on our way home from vacation. We wanted home cooking and didn’t mind getting off the main road. The place was very busy but the employees were hard at work and very friendly. We had chicken livers and meatloaf and both were outstanding. This place is worth a try if you’re anywhere near. Janie was our server and she was very nice to take the time to talk to us.

Great food, friendly staff. Janie appears to be the only server….her husband and other family members bring out food and bus tables. Our order took a long time (25-30min) to get to our table but the food we got was worth the wait !
