I've been a regular here ever since this place first opened its doors, drawn back time and time again by the fantastic food and the cozy atmosphere it's always had. But last weekend was a bit of a letdown. I had hyped this place up for months to a friend visiting from out of town, and we found out that some changes had been made that really put a damper on the experience.Firstly, they've done away with the chicken and fish combo deal, which used to be a great value. Now, it's just more expensive to order from the menu.Secondarily, the previous standard of a full catfish fillet has been replaced with a somewhat questionable practice, where a solitary catfish fillet is sliced in half and presented as two separate portions. While I am understanding of the broader economic challenges posed by inflation, the decision to compromise on quality rather than explore alternative solutions is a disheartening departure from the standards that have cultivated a devoted patronage over the years.I approach my assessments with a commitment to support local businesses, particularly those owned by members of the Black community, and thus, I strive to convey my feedback with graciousness. However, the introduction of higher costs for reduced portions has left me with a distinct impression that both the service and culinary quality have regrettably declined, seemingly motivated by short-term financial gain rather than maintaining the loyalty of their long-standing clientele.Sadly, I'll be exploring other catfish spots and restaurants in Clarksville from now on. Being served a single catfish fillet sliced in half and being told it's two full pieces felt pretty insulting, and it left a sour taste in my mouth.Update: The owner responded faster than our waitress got us our drinks (she was dancing on the dancefloor more than she was serving us). Love that for her! However, I was born at night, but not last night. They've never "re-porportioned" filets by cutting them in half and selling them as 2 pieces. I know what a full, or at least full-er, piece of catfish looks like. However, maybe to quell customer's expectations, we can have something on the virtual menu say, "Note: All catfish pieces are actually 1/2 of a filet." I think that being explicitly said, vs surprising customers with this new practice, would be more ethical.In the day and age of Black consumers giving honest reviews to better our community's standards and practices, this reminds me so much of what has been going on with Keith Lee. We are kind and gracious in our feedback, but are gaslit and met with owners placing more emphasis on defending their company vs trying to give a better customer experience. My response, which was again, laced with kindness and respect, being called "unfair" is certainly...a choice. But I do hope the next generation sees this exchange and learns from it. Customer service, kindness, and maturity will get you far in life.The Catfish House (1461 Zinc Plant Rd, Clarksville, TN 37040) serves some really nice, full catfish filets and are affordable. It's family-owned, and they're all super nice there, if anyone's looking for an alternative.

Went to have dinner. Fish was great, wings fantastic, shrimp was good. Service was ok. Later that evening, my credit card number was used for a number of unauthorized attempted fraudulent purchases. This was the only place I used it that week. I probably won’t go back. First time this has ever happened to me.

I would give a 5 star if this establishment was ran better. I do like coming to karaoke night but the service is ridiculous. The line to get drinks and food are extra long and the bartenders (women) will take men orders even though they were not in line. It’s best to order two drinks at a time because the wait is long. Waiters will walk pass you even though you are trying to get their attention. Last night after an hour 1/2 I finally got my food and it wasn’t hot the catfish everyone talks about but it was mediocre I don’t know if it was because it wasn’t hot. The atmosphere is good but it gets very crowded, so come early if you want to get a seat. The one bartender with the curly hair and glasses doesn’t have the best demeanor and was rude. They need a better system because the service is below standard. With that being said you probably want to eat and drink before going??♀️. I love patronizing black owned businesses but I will not tolerate bad service just to patronize a black owned business. The demand is high and they need a better approach. The owners are nice.Parking: Get there early because it get packed on Wednesday.

This is a very nice bo establishment. There is a pool table and a good dj. Service was quick and pleasant. The crowd was mixed in terms of age.The pool table was situated in a place that made playing challenging for some shots due to patrons entering and where the bench seating was. A snug fit.The food options were catfish baskets with fries, etc.Beautifully decorated and festive.

Absolutely love going to Wednesday Karaoke nights. I always have a blast doing the line dances. I like that it’s a more mature crowd & being from Chicago I also enjoy the atmosphere of being in a black space. Catfish is fire EVERY single time and the drinks.

Our regular order was late took a long time never received our take out order. Waited two hours to be told 10 mins over and over again. Requested a manager he told us 10 mins finally I requested the owner he told us twenty minutes. Avoidance get you a one star customer service gets you a half a star. I will recommend to all my Veterans friends to not patronize your restaurant ever!

The vibes and atmosphere is great. The drinks not so much. Other than that, nice place. And they have karaoke!!Update! I went again and seems the previous reviews were taken into consideration. The vibe was much better and karaoke is now on Wednesday. The bartenders are amazing! They be putting in work behind that counter. I went Friday and Wednesday and both times I enjoyed myself. So happy the previous waitress no longer works there.

I will never go back, I was treated nasty from the time I walked in until the time I left. I was never offered the chance to order anything. It was the worse experience ever. After I heard so many great things about the food and atmosphere. If a person does not know how to treat people they should not work in customer service and management positions.
