Nice deck, ate lunch and watched the eclipse. Food and service were good, typical chips and salsa joint experience.

I went to La Plaza with a friend for lunch. Unfortunately, they did not live up to my expectations. The salsa and chips were pretty standard. No real flavor or heat to speak of. I had the steak chile verde, and it was ok. It was very saucy and flavorful. It would have benefitted from a couple more tortillas. The rice and beans were nice but not stand outs. We asked about margaritas, and our server asked if we wanted small, medium, or large. I'd never been asked that question before. I asked about the special margaritas they had on the menu board, which was priced at $2.99. We were told that was a "regular." I wondered how it would compare to the small, medium, or large she'd mentioned earlier but chose not to pursue it. $2,99 was a fair price on paper, but the drink itself was very small. It might have been worth the cost if it had any alcohol in it, but it tasted like straight mixer. Lunch was pretty standard, and nothing was a knock your socks off kinda dish. It was serviceable. I'm hoping this was an "off day" for the restaurant. I'm willing to give them a second go at some point in the future. I'd love to see La Plaza live up to my expectations rather than them bringing me down into disappointment.

While trying to point out wasps, near the door, to a server some of my food accidentally fell on the ground. The server saw it, said nothing, and darted inside. The server refused to replace it saying it was my fault it fell and had a bad attitude. I asked to speak to the manager about it at which point she talked over me not letting me explain what happened. Then I asked the manager if she spoke English and she did not. I paid for my meal and left what remained of my food on the counter. Feeling frustrated and largely ignored, I left. I suppose I shouldn’t be too surprised… but, her attitude was intolerable and infuriated me.

Great food but the server seemed a little annoyed that we only had plans to have an appetizer and margaritas. We still tipped 40% because I understand we are splitting the tip with the bar as well despite her attitude. To our waitress tonight: Lighten up. Not everyone will stiffen you on your tip. Kindness matters.

Taco Tuesday is awesome! Eat it every week because they have $1 tacos on Tuesday and Margarita specials too!
