El Indio is…INTENSE. The restaurant is long and narrow, with only one aisle, creating a freeway of activity in the center. All staff wear earpieces, taking instructions and hurrying around at a frenzied pace. Guests in this aisle instinctively pick up their pace to match. This is NOT a Mexican restaurant where you feel at leisure nor will you experience a laid back discussion with the staff. However, it is interesting to watch the military style activity. The food has been delicious during all my visits. The pork chops can be a bit overcooked, but many prefer it that way. The menu is extensive and the prices are great.
Love the tamales and charro beans

First time there yesterday! I was a little worried at first because we had a group of about 20 coming in from a kayaking trip. This place is alot bigger than it looks. We were seated without hesitation. All the servers were so nice and patient with all the kids that were ordering. I know it can be so frustrating to have so many tickets. Food was great! The charro beans 10/10! (Be aware, they add hotdogs to theirs). The house hot salsa, also 10/10. This has nothing to do with much but they also have the really good plastic take away boxes (please dont ever change that). This will definetly be my go to if im in the Clinton Area.

All I can say is WOW!
I grew up in Texas. Spent years in South Texas. This is the real thing, and o-so-good.

Restaurantji Recommends
Really excellent food at great prices, very large portions for the cost! The facade of the restaurant plays down the experience and interior, do not miss out!

I was here several times around 15 years ago and never liked the food. We came here about a month ago and the food was absolutely outstanding!!! I've had the fajitas, fajita chicken salad, pork roast, pork chops and it's all great!!! We have been here every weekend ever since!!! Definitely a great choice for Mexican food and so far I recommend everything!!! Another great thing is the price, 2 of us for less than 40$ and that's with shrimp too!!! Definitely on our list of regular places!!! Found out through management that it's under new ownership and definitely a great change!!! Staff is extremely helpful and friendly, everyone speaks English and Spanish!!!

Holy cow! The micheladas are HUGE! I had the shredded beef chimichanga which was really good. Mind you, it isn’t Cali Mexican but it has been the best Mexican food I have had in Tennessee so far. Love the atmosphere and the Mexican music the place is clean and the service was impeccable.
