Amazing, authentic Indian food! It came out hot and tantalizing. We sampled many tasty dishes. The lamb chops and chicken sampler were excellent. All the curry dishes were enjoyed. Mango lassi was a sweet treat. Only drawback to the evening was the atmosphere. It was a busy Saturday night. Noise level was high. That’s not their fault. I can completely understand why so many people wanted in on the food action. Next time, I’d sit outside and try the patio if inside is packed.

Had a great lunch on a cold icy day! Tried three curries, tandoori chicken, paratha, and naan. Their mild is truly mild (wish we had ordered spicier) and leftovers kept very well for lunch the next day. Chai and mango lassi were both yummy. Thanks for the friendly service and great food.

I disclosed a peanut allergy in my online order for the Hyderabad Dum chicken Biryani, and received two sauces on the side. I later found out that one was salaan, a sauce commonly made with peanuts, which wasn’t clear on the online menu. After eating, I had an allergic reaction. While the biryani itself was good, the inclusion of a peanut-based sauce despite the allergy note is a safety concern. Customers with peanut allergies should be cautious.

We had a wonderful experience at Social Desi in Collierville, especially their Unlimited Veg Thali. The thali offered a great variety of authentic Indian vegetarian dishes, each bursting with rich flavors and homestyle taste. I had mixed feelings about my experience at Social Desii. While the food itself was just okay, the sides and overall service were quite disappointing. For the quantity ordered and the price paid, the accompaniments were nowhere near sufficient. We ordered two double biryanis totaling $54, and were initially given only two very small containers of raita, which was honestly surprising.
When we asked about the quantity, they hesitantly provided two more small containers, and at that point I didn’t feel comfortable asking again. Even then, it didn’t feel appropriate for the size of the order. Additionally, despite clearly requesting a mild spice level, the biryani was heavily masala-laden.
There was also a noticeable inconsistency in service—one biryani pack included onions and a lemon wedge, while the other had none, which clearly shows a lack of attention to detail. Overall, the food may be passable, but the portions, sides, and service need significant improvement to justify the pricing.
What a wonderful experience! Not only was the food amazing, the staff was so helpful and encouraged our many questions. We were guided to try new things and learned some new favorites! My second visit was as delightful as the first and I hope many people give this restaurant a try!
