- Waitress was great & attentive
- Very relaxing environment
- The food portion couldn't feed a baby it was so small. The quality was barely passable. It was way too overpriced for what you get.

My husband and I stopped in on a whim for lunch and this place far exceeded our expectations! Neither of us drink alcohol but we had food and mocktails that were SO good. I got the grilled cheese with tomato soup, the soup was the best I’ve ever had. My husband got a steak sandwich and spoke very highly of the quality of the meat, he said there wasn’t a single piece of fat but it was still very juicy. We will definitely be going back

My wife and I, along with some family, visited American Barrel this past weekend and were thoroughly impressed. The interior exudes a high-end, sophisticated vibe that immediately sets the tone for a great experience. We especially enjoyed watching the drinks being crafted right in front of us—it added a fun, personal touch to the evening.
We ordered the chips and guacamole, which were absolutely exceptional. The owner was warm, professional, and attentive, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our visit.
Overall, a fantastic experience from start to finish. We’ll definitely be coming back!

So the drinks that take a while to get to you are good, but not for the price that you pay.
The food on the other hand was horrible. Steak was cold, the baguette was horribly dry, the owner said they would give us 50% off since we ate two bites of the steak. So basically we won't be back.

Came in on 8/15 and the whole place was packed but Promise sat me pretty fast even though she had alot of tables she was tending too. I didn't know what i wanted so She recommended the watermelon margarita and I don't think I've ever had a drink this good in my life! What impressed me most was how effortlessly Promise managed to keep the atmosphere fun and engaging while still giving top notch service. Even with a busy crowd, I never felt overlooked!!!! I’ll definitely be coming back, and I’ll be asking for Promise every time!

American Barrel offers quality drinks and an environment for any occasion. Whether I’m by myself for an afternoon drink/bite or with a large group late in the evening; we have received top notch service every time! It’s great to have an amazing, locally owned business in Downtown Columbia!

Had a summer craft cocktail and it’s nice to have a drink that someone took their time to mix properly. Delicious!

We had a disappointing and discriminatory experience at this establishment on July 4th. My husband — a two-time combat veteran — was denied entry with his identified service dog. I, too, am a veteran, and both of us are disabled.
Despite the dog laying on my husbands feet, wearing a vest clearly marked “service animal,” the server chose to ignore it entirely. Moments later, the manager, Nathen, confronted my husband by Googling ADA laws on his phone and holding the screen up to his face, stating, “I’m allowed to ask these questions,” before launching into an interrogation.
While the ADA does permit limited questioning — specifically: Is the dog a service animal required because of a disability? What work or task has the dog been trained to perform?— the manager crossed the line by asking about the nature of my husband’s disability, which is a direct violation of federal law.
The overall tone of the encounter was dismissive and confrontational, and it left my brother-in-law so uncomfortable that we chose to leave rather than subject ourselves to further humiliation. They did not even want to serve him a drink if he would go outside. The behavior we experienced was not only disrespectful — it was discriminatory and legally problematic.
As disabled veterans, we expect basic dignity and legal compliance when accessing public spaces. This fell far short. Rest assured, we are taking appropriate steps to report this incident through the proper ADA and state channels.
Veterans and individuals with disabilities deserve better. So does the community that supports them.

The atmosphere, food, beverages and staff were phenomenal. Highly recommend the whipped feta!
Overpriced food and cocktails…. Service is terrible. Really unfortunate because this place had so much potential!! 3 cocktails, chili dog, boiled steak bites plate (maybe 4 slices) and a sausage tapas (aka… sliced hot dog)…. $81!!! Nope …. Never again!!!
Good atmosphere, very classic feel. Good, pleasant customer service. Nice place for a casual or semi-fancy date. They have a range of drink options from premium to affordable house drinks and beers. I have not tried the food but have enjoyed our visits.
Awesome restaurant. Best onion rings I've ever had.
