Firstly, I would like the say the atmosphere and service were outstanding. However, I unfortunately was not a fan of the food, the brisket was super dry and the steak was not good and was dry too. The sides were the best part of the whole meal, good salad and mashed potatoes, but just can't recommend the main dishes.
Me second favorite place to eat in Columbia right after LooseWheels. I'm here for the steak, wings and apps. But they got everything for the whole family. If you're visiting me from out of town, I've taken you here. The host and waitstaff do need to be more alert. But once you got their attention it goes smooth. Probaley hurting their tip average though. I understand and ain't tripping so it won't affect how much I tip. Just saying keep an eye on your section. The manager shouldn't have to remind everyone multiple times a day to watch their area. They should bring in Gordon Ramsey to yell at everyone but don't change the menu, its perfect as is.
Amazing with food allergies!!!!! We are peanut, dairy, and shellfish allergic and we didn't have any issues. The sever was very attentive and answered all our questions and checked with the Chef if she was unsure. Definitely recommend for food allergies. The drinks were delicious and so was the food!
We have been here many times and have never been disappointed. The food is amazing the service is out of this world. I would recommend the 12 oz ribeye if you are a meat eater and if not the fried green tomatoes are the best.Parking: It is on the square so you can park and walk down to the restaurant.Kid-friendliness: The building has plenty of room for highchairs and they have a great picky kid friendly menu.Wheelchair accessibility: The building is set up so you could get a stroller or a wheelchair between the tables with ease.
My wife and I dined at Southern Tre for the first time this past weekend. We arrived just before the dinner rush and were able to get seated quickly. Our server was just friendly enough to not be considered unfriendly, but she was very brief and did not check on us often nor asked us how our food was. The bread (only complimentary with purchase of steak or seafood) was probably the best part of our meals. My steak (Filet) was not great, and had an unpleasant taste on the outside (very charred/blackened/flame grilled but to an unenjoyable level). My wifes pasta was good, and the cheesecake was good. We would probably try Southern Tre again, but it did not leave a good first impression based on food and service at a price that should have offered better.
Out of towners celebrating our anniversary. Everything we tried was great! Came on a Sunday afternoon when the lunch rush was over. Food came quickly. The fried shrimp appetizer (can’t remember the name) and fried green tomatoes were so good, especially with the dipping sauces. We ordered salmon and ribeye, whipped sweet potatoes and asparagus and it was all excellent. The artisan bread was sooooo good! Thin crusty exterior and soft fluffy interior. We left stuffed and still carried food home. On a note, we didn’t pay too much attention to prices. We own a cafe and understand that EVERYTHING is more expensive. The food and service here were well worth what we paid for them. Will be back!
Was on vacation with family, and we are so glad we stopped here for lunch. I ordered the Blazing Saddles chicken sandwich with fries, and my wife ordered the Cajun seafood pasta with a side salad, and both were very good. Other family members ordered some amazing salads...the Blue Hen, Pig in the Garden, and the Kaleidoscope salad. I got to sample a little of each, and they were all unique and outstanding. Charming ambiance and great, friendly service from the staff. Will be back the next time I'm in the area.
Our to-go order was packaged perfectly and tasted as though it just came out of the oven. The fried green tomatoes were our favorite with the honey mustard sauce. Overall everything tasted great and was well worth the cost!
I had the chicken tender basket with fries and it came out very quickly and was delicious. My server Lucy was phenomenal. She was very friendly and attentive and made a great suggestion to try the sriracha bourbon sauce with the chicken tenders. Will definitely be back.
Got seated in the front room, and it was packed with people with lots to talk about. No sound deadening anywhere in the room. Sound absorbing boards could really improve the experience for everyone, staff included as it was obvious that they weren't enjoying the din of a Friday night crowd. The food was slightly above average, will probably try again when half of Columbia isn't in the same room.
I ordered a NY Strip and plain baked potato. Easy, right? Well, to my dismay. The steak was extremely fatty and I ended up cutting off more than 25% and discarded it. I'm not a fan of chewing fat. Additionally, I've never seen a potato that was the color of the one they served me. Not recommend. ?
My brisket taste like the cook went to PetSmart and whipped up some cat food straight from the can. My wife’s fettuccine with meat was the perfect flavor of water and butter. (no real taste) Don’t get me wrong, the interior and exterior of the building is absolutely amazing, but the food will definitely disagree with your stomach. Which is why I’m leaving this review while I’m sitting on the toilet.
Such a great lunch! ✨ 10/10 recommend!
Staff were super friendly as soon as we walked in, even though it was a very busy Saturday night. Even though, we got seated immediately. It took a couple minutes to get a server and drinks, but again it was a Saturday night dinner time. Hardly a wait for the food though, and it was great. Steaks were just a tad pricey but there are several options for consideration on the menu. The sriracha bourbon pork chop was a nice balance of spicy and sweet.
Great meal!!! Luscious bread. Fresh salad. Mahi Special was delicious. Twice as much food as I could eat. Husband ate every bit of his New York Strip. Love the open dining room. Server Katie gave excellent advice - a gem! It gets BUSY; glad that we arrived early.
