I was picking up an online order through the drive-through today. The person who took my order at the drive-through was so cheerful and sweet sounding. The girl who handed me my coffee at the window had the biggest smile. And then as I drive away, I see this beautiful note on my cup. I didn’t expect to be encouraged and drive away feeling so happy after picking up a cold brew, but I was!

I have been a loyal customer at this Starbucks location every Tuesday for the past year while waiting for my daughter to finish her cheerleading practice nearby. Unfortunately, my experience today left me with a very negative impression due to how I was spoken to by one of the employees.

I felt singled out and unwelcome, as if I were being asked to leave without justification. The employee informed me that I needed to make a purchase in order to remain in the store. I politely explained that I had already purchased a tea, as I do every week. Despite this, I was asked if I wanted to buy another item, which implied that my initial purchase was not sufficient.

This experience was disappointing, especially given conversations I’ve had with other minority customers who have reported similar concerns about service at Starbucks. I truly hope that Starbucks will take steps to ensure all customers are treated with respect and dignity, regardless of their background. Implementing training programs focused on effective and inclusive communication could be a valuable step in fostering a welcoming environment for everyone.

My coffee wasn't it's normal, piping hot, but still warm. Service was great as always. The prices are still too high. I only go now if someone gives me a gift card. I still think points should never expire. We pay TOO much for a cup of coffee for the points to expire.
