Amazing food and great service!

I’m new to the state for about 5 months. I got a recommendation to try this place. That it was old school country type food.

I ordered the meat loaf which was mushy and looked like it was scooped out with an ice cream scoop. The Mac and cheese was ice cold and some off brand Kraft type too. The mashed potatoes was ok. The chocolate cake was the best part. It was a store bought mix. I won’t be back, I rather go to home folks for half the price and better food.

I've been here twice, I love that it's on a farm and the new building is really nice. The food could be better. I had the pork roast. I know from personal experience that a pork roast is extremely difficult to dry out, but they managed to do exactly that. I tried the cornbread salad. I figured out that I do not actually like cornbread salad. If you like your cornbread mixed with some mayo, then it might be for you.
I took a slice of chocolate pie home. I was impressed, it was really amazing! I was a little surprised they didn't have many cookie varieties. There are literally cookie storage jars everywhere, but their pie and undoubtedly all their desserts more than make up for it. I would go again if my meal is followed by the dessert and I can walk around the farm. I'll give them bonus points if I get to visit with farm animals while I'm there!

Very disappointed, food fell short of good serving size. Chicken & dumplings should be renamed dumplings & chicken. Over rated

I got “chicken casserole “. It was more like chicken and dressing. It was fine. Fried okra and pickled beets were good. Lemon creame pie was ok.

I strongly recommend this place! We drove an hour to find this gem. It is real home cooking. I had pot roast, fried okra, and Mac n cheese. The portions were so big that I took half of it home and ate it for breakfast the next morning. I also got a whole butterscotch pie. I Sat down later that evening with the pie and a fork thinking I was just going to eat a little. Half the pie was gone before I realized it!!!!
Take it from me. Someone you don't know....take the time to find this place and have a meal. You will not regret it.

I have always enjoyed eating here, but my husband and I were disappointed today. My husband ordered a loaded baked potato with his meal, and he received a dark-colored potato with a slice of cheese ( not melted) and a third of a piece of bacon on top of it. The slice of cake was extremely dry, so we were definitely disappointed.

Went twice and they were closed. Went one evening about 30 minutes before closing and they were already closed. Went one morning about 20 minutes after opening and they were closed. Business should consider changing the sign on the door or perhaps a voicemail with their true business hours. If I ever get to try their cookies, I will change my review.

Can't get any better than the Cookie Jar Cafe if you want to experience good downhome cooking and atmosphere. Overall, pricing is fair with good sized portions. Just be prepared to pay upscale pricing for their "market value" priced items. Service was outstanding, as always and I highly recommend this place!

Wheelchair accessibility: They do have a ramp for those who may need it.

The location and atmosphere make the experience. Food is good and abundant. The desserts look wonderful, but we were completely satisfied after lunch. We've decided we'll have to go again soon.

I don't like to leave negative reviews but I feel this necessary. I was in the food and beverage industry for 10 years and I can sympathize that people have bad days but this was a very bad experience for my family. We walked in and waited for a table. No one even acknowledged us. Plenty of open tables. Servers passing by and the hostess checked out I estimate about 5 people before ever even greeting us. Not even eye contact. A "be right with you" would have sufficed. We got there fairly early into lunch service and they were out of chicken livers which was okay because I understand that things happen. I ordered the catfish meal with Mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, and deviled eggs. The catfish was crunchy and tasted good but weirdly was barely warm I assume they made a big batch maybe and kept it under a lamp? I'm not sure. The Mac and cheese was ICE COLD like refrigerated cold. My deviled eggs had a crunch to them because there were egg shells in them. My husband's regular cheeseburger literally tasted like it had sugar in it. My daughters did not so it was very odd. My husband made the comment that it seemed our food may have sat for a while before being delivered but it's hard to say. So disappointing because it is a gorgeous location and was recommended to me by a friend and I will not be back.
