8/16/25. Walked in restaurant was hotter inside then it was out side, sat down within 5 minutes waitress came over. We ordered water, tea, sodas, cheese dip. Waitress came over and i apologized for not having any clean cups. Chips were stale, cheese tasted like cleaner(soap). We decided to leave and drove to Kimball. Definitely worth the drive to Kimball. Maybe they were having a bad night, maybe they have low expectations and the citizens of Dunlap have became indoctrinated to lower class food and service.

El Metate may be some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. They have your standard Mexican fare, but I could tell the ingredients were really fresh and I could taste the grill in my Fajita Taco Salad. The salsa was also delicious! There was a bit of a wait for our food, but the server was super attentive and kept our drinks topped off. We were just visiting, but if I'm ever in the area again I will definitely be stopping by!

The waiter waited on the people who came in after us and by passed us a number of times. The taco was very soggy and the meat you could tell didn't have any seasoning. The refried beans were cold, the rice was very bland. I was very disappointed in the meal today and service.
