Helens Restaurant

My wife and I love Helen's catfish. It's always fresh and good and September 6, 2025 was no exception. I do however have a complaint this visit. The service was awful. Our food was brought out but the service stopped there. They were not even busy. Had to ask for more ketchup and finally got it after 5 minutes. We were never offered drink refills. The staff was unfriendly. Had to get up and go to the cashier. No receipt was ever brought to us. I'm usually a great tipper. Not this time. Great food but extremely substandard service. I am disappointed. There was plenty of help there and maybe a dozen customers. Hey Helens! What's wrong???

The service is nice, but the food is truly what makes Southern cuisine so special! I remember coming here with my grandparents, and we enjoyed it then even way back. I still find myself enjoying the scrumptious dishes this place serves up.

Carol greeted us as soon as we walked in and had us seated quickly, even though they were packed. Christin was our server and she was very quick and friendly. Our order was taken quickly but the food and check took some time but they were understandably very busy. The chicken breast had a great flavor. It was a bit more dry than my husband’s chicken tenders but both were really good. The green beans were phenomenal! I liked the Mac n cheese and mashed potatoes as well. The fried okra was good as well as the fried squash. The cream corn, slaw and rolls didn’t go over well with any of our party of four. For a $10 meat and 3 it was really good and we would come back if we lived in the area.

Been coming here for over a decade, always had really good southern favorites. Highly recommend their burger!
