The food was delicious. The meatloaf and shrimp and grits were both outstanding. Our only complaint was that we were seated on a patio close to the street and train tracks. If we had been seated inside or on the back patio, our meal would have been perfect. I didn't see a way to choose inside or outside seating when I made the reservation. Since we were dining prior to a concert, my time choices were limited.so I took the one recommended by Open Table. Upon arrival, I think there were other tables/times available.

We had a 4pm reservation and arrived at 3:50pm to celebrate our 31st wedding anniversary. The valet was not yet open, so we had to find our own parking. This was after the restaurant had called specifically and left a message that they offered free valet. Then, we had to stand in the parking lot with several other couples waiting for the restaurant to open, they certaintly were not prepared for the 4pm reservations several couples had made. We then had to wait approximately 10 minutes in the hallway before someone would seat us. There was no bread available prior to the meal as it was not yet ready in the kitchen (another sign the restaurant was not ready for the 4pm reservation). When our meals came out, our side, sweet potato casserole was not ready. Our server told us it would be about 2 more minutes. When the sweet potato casserole arrived to the table, it was cold. The food was good, but nothing was remarkable or special for the price. This is the second time we have eaten at Southern Social. We will not be returning. We can spend $250 on a meal elsewhere and be made to feel special. We were made to feel like the restaurant was not ready for a 4pm start, even though they had several couples like us, who had reservations for that time.

What a fabulous dinner! We are traveling and doing through Memphis and happened up the Southern Social. We chose it because I caned the redfish and lump carb dinner. This place did not disappoint. We sat on the patio on a perfect evening and had a fabulous dinner. Kiley was our server and she was friendly, charming, helpful and efficient. Wow!! 10 out of 10 for us tonight.

The food & service was great. But the vibe wasn't what I expected. The thing I noticed walking through the door was a picture of a plantation house. The servers dressed in that manner as well. After seeing those things, I just couldn't relax. So for me, I give the atmosphere/vibe 2-3 stars.The food & service 4-5 stars.

We visited on Sunday night, the service was outstanding. The food was adequate. My fish was overcooked. My husband‘s steak was cooked to his perfection. Our drinks were awesome. My only complaint was we were seated in the bar area. We had reservations, I do not know why people are seated in the bar area with reservations. I was very disappointed as this was our 40th anniversary. I truly hope you will think about your seeing arrangements for couples, especially older couples.

My 2nd visit. A birthday dinner for my friend. The service was so so good!!! I think our server was Treshon or Treon. I seriously apologize for not getting her name right. She was AWESOME!! Loved how she knew the menu and gave comparisons about the entrees when asked about the different entrees. Loved how she related to each in our party differently and personally. The bread pudding was delish! The blackened shrimp pasta was delicious. Was totally digging my wedge salad w/ blue cheese crumbles. Even my ginger ale was extra tasty! I don’t think I’ve ever given 5stars as a rating, but this placed earned it!

First time to sit outside on the east side of the building. The noise level was much louder than expected. There were several large groups that were quite boisterous as well as traffic. Not a fan & will ask for back patio next time. Meal was not timed great & waitress forgot a cocktail order altogether. Food was excellent, as usual.

Celebrated our 15th year anniversary and thankful we chose this place, it exceeded in all levels. But what made it outstanding was the service from the valet until you leave. Great experience, highly recommended.
