Even though Winchester was our original meet n greet anniversary spot, we had a great time celebrating 🍾 our 3 yr anniversary with LocoCoco (Pina coladas) Delish! It was clean, themed decor and spacious. Daisy was a good waitress that greeted us with a smile and served us with good customer service. My beau had an Amberjack sandwich with Broccoli that was hot and tasty and I had the fried mushrooms and coconut shrimp which was all served hot and delicious 😋 We will be coming back soon

If you coming from the original OG half shell that was on Winchester to this one your definitely in for a rude awakening. The atmosphere gives upscale layout but falls short in food production
For starters the crab cakes were fried hard with a presentation of Ruth Chris, we already been eating at half shell for years and it’s never been presented this way. And that’s cool we can adapt Upon eating straight onions and flour with a little bit of crab cakes and one was smaller than the other lol
Fast forward to the drinks YALL know everybody like sweet tea, we was given theee most diabetic tea ever made in life (no offense) TWICE, like okay cool maybe the first one she didn’t hear us say sweet tea, but for a second time now you just playing.
Fast FORWARDER The meal: Mississippi catfish blackened potato with no bacon The plate came out in one of those square TikTok aesthetic plates and i knew then …. This food finna be off and it was. Potatoe had bacon on it (😒) Rice was bland No pico as it has always been on there this time we had to request it. Blackened catfish was blackened but no season Bread was undercooked
And lastly the bill came out They upcharged you for your sides when they have always been included. Like how do you charge me for what kind of side i pick when it’s included.
Overall if you looking for the Winchester half shell food vibes this is NOT where it’s at.

Old days managers used to keep restaurants air cold when closing time comes closer so people doesn’t stay there much. Yes we had that. Was outside temperature probably 43 inside was 53 something like that. Waited for my second beer order for a while than waited to be served for a while. Catfish I ordered soft cocked . It could be little bit more crispy and breaded but had no taste. Southland casino catfish plate has more delicious. And I think original place the one at Mendenhall have better service and better on everything . But this places had very poor on everything

The atmosphere was great. Large location with a room for parties. Very clean. The staff is not welcoming. I ordered a side of grilled shrimp that came out spoiled. The manager, Joanie, presented at the table and instead of saying “how can I help you” or another greeting, her initial statement was “what’s the problem?” She was combative and denied the shrimp were spoiled. She does not eat seafood. I also ordered the dinner Redfish plate and the rice pilaf that comes with was uncooked. They provided me with a replacement that was warmed, also not fully cooked. Overall, this was not the best new location 1st impression of this restaurant that my family and I have frequented in the past. I hope both the food and service improves.

I really can’t imagine how any business gets by without an owner or manager onsite at all times. There’s your problem with this location …and most any other business that’s not getting consistent 5 star reviews.

We had a group of 17 today, enjoyed the food and had great service from Daisy. They could not have been more accommodating.
So disappointing, I’ve loved the half shell at Poplar and Mt. Moriah for many years but new location couldn’t be any worse if they tried. Seemed like terrible institutional food. Not one in our party ate more than a couple of bites and all agreed never again. Such a pity because the service was excellent and really liked the design but food was inedible.
