Zen Japanese fine cuisine

I went to this restaurant last night & I was not pleased with the service at all. Firstly, the hostess tried to seat us at a dirty table where there was food all over the floor. Then our waiter did not put our orders in correctly. It took my sushi very long to come. My sushi came long after my entree was brought out. The waiter told me that another waiter had entered my ticket in wrong and put it all in at once although we ordered appetizers and sushi before our entree. To put the icing on the cake, the waiter and sushi chef began arguing in front of the whole restaurant. I felt uneasy and unsafe. The sushi chef ended up walking out after they continually argued very aggressively in front of us. The only good part about this experience was receiving the driving directions to get to the restaurant after calling the hostess who was very friendly and welcoming. I don’t think I will return here in the future because this experience was very unprofessional to say the least and they offered no apologies or any compensations for the service we encountered.

5 stars all the way around. This place is beautiful and exquisitely designed. Very comfortable and the service was fantastic. If you can believe it the Sushi was even better. This is a masterpiece of a restaurant right in Germantown so if you have not been you need to check it out! I can’t wait to go back.

BEST quality sushi & sashimi in Memphis! It's a bit pricy for quantity...I am not a big eater, so it's okay for me, but if you are really, really hungry... might not be the best fit for your needs.

Came tonight with my daughter for Valentines Day. I had made reservations last week for 7:30. We arrived and they never could find our reservation. Waitress was not the best or very attentive. Service was slow. I constantly had to ask for refills of water, silverware etc

In short I ordered the wagyu steak which after almost an hour never came. Our waitress and another waitress said they were not prepared for the crowd as they normally don't have this many people. They also gave an excuse that the computer system crashed so my order never showed up. However I watched two couples who arrived 20.mins after us receive their meals and drinks.

Needless to say I will not return. Several opportunities were given to get it right and they still didn't. I paid for the appetizers I did receive but I would've thought management would have come to the table to at least apologize instead of the excuses I was given by the waitresses.

Very yummy. Priced relatively well. Looks nice inside. Would've liked the volcano roll to have more than 4 pieces. Gave atmosphere a 4 just caused it was cold and we were wearing sweaters. Overall, would go back.
(Pricing is based off sushi. Didn't eat any of the other dishes.)

The ambiance and food and experience is elevated from any other sushi spot you’ll find in Memphis. Food was delicious and affordable. The sashimi cuts could be a bit better, but it was still good. Combo deal is a really good deal. Biggest problem is derived from the cleanliness of the bathroom. I would recommend a more regular cleaning schedule.

most Of the food was good , service was excellent unfortunately at the very end a roach crawled on my boyfriend’s hand. Our waitress I cannot remember her name(short blonde hair) was very apologetic and offered to comp our bill which she did. We won’t be returning because of the bug issue

I recently celebrated my birthday here with a party of 11. Despite arriving during peak dinner hours on a Saturday, the restaurant was unusually quiet. We ordered a mix of hot entrees and sushi. While the hot entrees took around 45 minutes (fair for a large group), my sushi arrived 30 minutes after everyone else had finished eating.

When I brought this up with the manager, the response was a dismissive, “you get what you get," type of attitude, which was disappointing.

One guest received a crab cake burger that was frozen in the middle and had to be sent back. Another ordered the $40 lobster, but it was overcooked and rubbery. By then, we didn’t even bother raising the issue.

On the positive side, the decor is stylish, and the drinks were decent, though a bit pricey for what you get. The food was mostly good, but portions were small, and the value didn’t justify the service or quality issues. A simple heads-up and apology about delays or offering a small appetizer so that I could eat with the rest of my party would have made a big difference.

While the restaurant has potential, I wouldn’t return unless service improves.
