We were traveling and stopped in Jackson for the night. It was almost 8 pm on a Thursday and this advertisement on Google maps says they are open until 9 pm. We found out after arriving that the dinning area closes at 8 pm but the drive thru is open until 9 pm. So we get in line for the drive thru and reach the ordering spot in drive thru at 8:27 pm. The person taking orders tells us on speaker that they are closed, 33 minutes before 9 pm.
When we had to pull to the right and turn around to leave (no by pass lane) the lady behind us seemed to be ordering...
Going to this eatery was a very frustrating experience, to say the least.

A good Bar-B-Q place. Very fast and affordable. I've eaten here several times and it's always been pleasant.
Drove.to the place, went through drive thru it was 8:41. Store closes at 9 pm. Lady in drive through says they closed at 8:40. How convenient to not have to do anymore work for the night

I was looking forward to trying out Backyard BBQ in Jackson, TN, but my experience fell far short of expectations. Upon arrival, I waited a frustrating 19 minutes at the microphone just to hear that they were out of chicken wings, chicken tenders, and, worst of all, their famous potatoes.
The lack of basic menu items was baffling, especially for a BBQ joint. The server’s indifferent attitude only added to the disappointment; I would have appreciated some proactive communication about the menu before waiting so long.
Horrible customer service combined with a lack of food options made for an extremely underwhelming visit. I won’t be returning anytime soon. If you're looking for a BBQ experience in Jackson, I suggest you look elsewhere.
