Best steak! Cooked perfectly. Love the atmosphere the staff is great. One of my favorite restaurants to have a great night out.
My husband loved his steak. Baked potatoes were very dry. My Mahi Mahi was not good at all. No flavor. There were knats flying around. No TP in restroom. Our server was unfriendly and un- attentive and it was not busy at all the time we were there. For New Years Eve splurge date… very unimpressed and disappointed! Prices were way too high for what you get.

I ate every bit of it! Totally worth breaking the calorie count for the evening! Tamales, chili, and Mac and cheese were the ultimate comfort food. Took home some banana pudding! Next to try the gumbo! Thanks for a great dinner.
Best steaks and oysters in Jackson!! Great service. Excellent bartender. Fantastic drinks. Everything was 5 star.

We love eating at Doe's! We get the fried shrimp appetizer and the HUGE 3lb porterhouse steak and split it. You need to give it a try.
Had lunch here, have eaten at original Doe and also the one in Little Rock, Jackson Doe was great will be going back for a porter house steak dinner soon.

BEST STEAK IN JACKSON, TN.
I think some folks miss the point of Doe’s Eat Place. It’s a no frills restaurant focused on good tamales and GOOD steaks. Coupled with its charming backstory, I would rate this place a 12/10.
I heard a rumor that the owner came down and changed management up recently. I’d like to challenge all the nay sayers to give this place another shot.
Service was phenomenal. I loved my salad, my baked potato was on point, the tamales and chili were soooo good, and my filet mignon was THE BEST STEAK I’VE HAD IN JACKSON, TN.
I don’t understand why people complain about the pricing. Sure, I can pay $12 less at another restaurant, but I’m not eating fresh-cut prime meat there. Take my $12 more and give me a REALLY GOOD STEAK.
Thanks, Doe’s. You fed us well!

My carry out order was The Black and Blue with medium rare steak and the house dressing. On the positive the steak was tender and cooked medium rare and the salad was fresh. Since it was a carry out my server should have been diligent not to leave out ingredients. Whoever prepared my salad left out the blue (blue cheese crumbles) and I was not a fan of the house dressing. I feel I was fair awarding a 3 because of a missing ingredient and tasteless dressing.
My desert was the disappointment. My “Chocolate Cobbler “ was only a warmed up dry brownie square with warm chocolate syrup on top served with artificially flavored vanilla ice cream. It is Far from being a cobbler. I was raised in the south. A brownie is not a cobbler. My ticket was $35.00 That included my meal, my husbands coffee, a modest tip and a 3% surcharge for using my debit card. The server was friendly and accommodating but left off ingredients, a nice atmosphere and appeared to be clean. My pet peeve is things missing from a carry out order.

Adding 3% for a credit card fee is wrong. Understand the costs of doing business and that credit cards are not just a benefit of the consumer but also to the business as well. You're charging like you're a high end restaurant. I'm pretty sure the expensive food covered the 3%.
Server Joanna: Perfect
Ranch dressing: Great
Baked Potato: Superb
Steak: Good
Prices: High. Everything you get will be very good, but everything is priced higher than it should be.

Catfish and tartar sauce was perfect. Tamales and chilli is a def need to try. Fries needed a lower temp for longer. They were still a bit starchy inside and the outsides were just right passed too much. They were better in the chilli. Service was great excellent. I love the theme of sticking with the building's history. Would def recommend.

This place is overrated and overpriced. There is a 3% charge if you use a debit card. There is a 20% gratuity for parties of 6 or more.
Pros-
The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting.
The steak was cooked well. It's a larger steak, not necessarily a better cut.
The salad was good; however, there is .99 charge for bacon and .99 charge for cheese. In my experience, this usually comes with the salad.
The staff was friendly but very inefficient. It took a long time to get service. To be fair, they were short-staffed. However, the time it took to get anything (drinks, straws, salads) bordered on ridiculous.
Cons:
The potatoes were overcooked and seemed to be old. Like they were leftovers, reheated.
The chili tasted like a basic spice mix added to canned chili.
The music is very loud, which made it hard to have conversations.
The drinks were mediocre. To be fair, the first drink was absolutely awful. The second drink was mediocre. To note: when we were not satisfied with the first drinks, the hostess informed the bartender who turned around, looked at our table, frowned and turned back around. We had to wait a long time, do a second request and wait even longer to get new drinks.
This was our first time visiting this restaurant. Unfortunately it was a poor impression. Overall, dinner was definitely not worth the money they are charging. Save your money and go somewhere else.
Parking: The parking in the front of the restaurant is a bit confusing. There is a space beside the restaurant inside a fence that filled up quickly. We had to park down the street and walk back to the restaurant.

As a Mississippi native who enjoyed dining at the original (Greenville) location, I looked forward to dining at the Jackson, TN, location after a night at the Ned. Unfortunately, we were never given the option to enjoy their cuisine. When we entered, we were seated immediately by a man who presented himself as the owner. We sat at our table, unacknowlodged, for 20 minutes until finally, a rude server put cups of water in front of us, but no menus. After another 10 minutes with no menu or service we walked out.
I would like to note that the restaurant was at half capacity and I'm probably overshooting. There was absolutely no reason for poor service, or rather, lack of service.
Please do better! Your roots are in Mississippi, the hospitality state. Embrace that!
