They have the very best fried chicken and sides!! The only thing missing is the sorghum for those delicious buttered biscuits! The staff is outstanding, making you feel welcome and have the want to to go back!
Arrived at 7pm on a Friday, went inside after ordering thu the drive thru and got yelled at by the employees. The inside closes at 5pm. My 2 small children needed to use the restroom. They said they already cleaned their bathrooms and we couldn't use them. Our order was wrong. They charge you more if you pay with a card. Terrible.

BBQ chicken sandwich is OK for the coleslaw, but messy and heavy sauced. Wedges are bland; no salt. Regular patty sandwich is better. Breakfast is different; a bit greasy but tasty! Egg biscuits are buttery and fluffy. All food is well worth the low price!!

I had to try their chicken livers out as I am a huge fan of Lee's chicken livers over in Milan Tennessee... everybody keeps telling me they are as good as the ones over there. I will agree to disagree on that assessment. The service here was stellar and quick but the chicken livers were nowhere near as good as the ones at Lee's. Food was just okay but everything else was terrific

Never ate at this place until 3 months ago. Since then I've ate here at least 25 times. I've tried everything and it's all awesome. Reasonable prices. Don't let the sights fool you. Yes you'll think you're in a Detroit ghetto on a Saturday night if you go in but it will be worth it because this is some of the best chicken and food you will find in the Jackson area by far. They also have a drive thru if you're not going strapped. A+++++

Pulled into Jackson, TN to pick up a lunch to go (it's more than a bit). HEED all travelers. Forget all the other chains. Umphy's is the best place for some great tasting food. The chicken strips were moist yet crispy, the cole slaw made a delicious side to compliment the chicken, and the homemade biscuits were so, so good. Great food, good size servings and all reasonably priced. Umphy's, please come to NM.

Travelling through Jackson, TN headed for an event, I was in the mood for fried chicken. Quick research suggested Umphy's. It is NOT an exotic new interpretation of southern fried chicken; it is simply a great version of it. The gravy on the mashed potatoes was nice; the green beans cooked with just enough seasoning. But the star of the plate was piping hot fried chicken. The only real mistake? Getting three pieces. I could not do it justice. Appetite has shrunk over the years. Good place.

This place has some of the best chicken strips in the area. 4 strips, 2 veggies and a biscuit for under $10
2 country fried steak dinners , my meal was light on the gravy so i ate it and had my biscuit broke up and went up and asked her for a scoop of gravy on my biscuit, she looked at me like i was crazy for asking , and told me it will cost 99, forget it, i said, i said that you will throw away more than im asking for. I threw it in the garbage and left!
Older building, great service, awesome staff, consistent food.
