We made our first visit to Hillside Hangout Friday and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere is very laid back with live music inside, plenty of seating, and plenty of shade and picnic benches outside. There are a few pieces of playground equipment for kids and plenty of grass area to run and play. They have plenty of draft/craft beer choices to enjoy if that's your thing. For food, we had the pretzel appetizer and it was a hit! Not a crumb was left. For meals, everyone had burgers with me having the Moose burger and my wife having the Whiskey Jam burger. Both were very fresh and very good, but we would give a slight nod to the Moose burger. We all had fries as our side that everyone enjoyed. The only downfall for us was the volume of the live music inside. Due to the space and having the music right in our ear, we elected to sit outside. Even being above 90 degrees it was still pleasant in the shade. Overall, this restaurant is excellent, we highly recommend, and can't wait to come back!
Great spot for an adult beverage and delicious food. The cheese curds are arguably the best I've ever had. Order at the bar, take your beverage with you, pick a seat indoors or out, and wait for the very friendly staff to deliver your order.
Having driven by this place multiple times, I met some friends here for lunch a few days ago and was really impressed with the super-fast, super-friendly service. I didn't have high expectations for the food since I'm not normally a burger/meat sandwich kind of person, but could not stop eating the pulled turkey sandwich - the bread was amazing (not sure if it's from Emeraude, but it was really tasty rye)! Their beer selection looked impressive, but I didn't try anything since I was there for lunch.
Do be careful going up from/down to Lebanon Road if you have a low vehicle, it's pretty steep.
My husband and I enjoyed hillside hangout. It's a great place if you want to enjoy music, eat good food, and let the little ones play. I got the Sami chicken sandwich and my husband got the moose burger. I like how the backyard is fenced in with playground equipment and picnic tables.
We went for an early dinner on a Friday afternoon. At that time, there was plenty of parking. I had a double cheeseburger and fries. The burger was awesome, but the fries were possibly the best I have ever encountered. The house mixed drink specials were top-notch. The heat kept us inside, but the outdoor seating and games look very interesting.
A great bar close to home!
This place is not far from my house, we drive by it all the time, and have always wanted to stop. Time is usually not on our side as a few times we have tried to go, they were closed and in the case on Sunday's the close at 4.
I am a simple man, and when it came time to decide what to do for Father's Day, I only had one request, and that was to make the time to eat at Hillside Hangout.
Parking was easy, and the decor is not much different that any other bar or restaurant. They have a stage for singers and bands (this is Nashville after all), lots of seating. Full Bar and plenty of seating outside as well. It was too hot, so it was inside for us all the way.
The counter was walk-up, you place your order, get a number and grab a seat.
We were met at the counter by Jess, she was super friendly and welcomed us. I immediately ordered the special, it was at the Dr. Frankenstein Burger. Smash patties, with crispy onions and jalapeños, cheese and maybe a sauce of some sort. My wife ordered a breakfast quesadilla. We also ordered a libation called the Pink Pony Club. It was good. a bit refreshing especially with the sangria in it. Very good.
The burger was AMAZING. I was in the mood for a burger for Father's Day and this hit the spot. Cooked to perfection, the bun was really soft, because it was a smashburger it did not leave me stuffed beyond belief, and the option for the side salad instead of fries was certainly a good decision.
Great vibes at this place, just a chill hangout. It was a great first visit and would certainly be back.
If you never get a chance to make a 1st impression they hit this one out of the park.
Jess, thanks for a wonderful 1st visit.
Service was great, food was good! Loved the outdoor area

A group of us came for brunch and were left feeling a bit disappointed. We were very excited to try the new cinnamon rolls but they were dry and very bland. Just tasted like bread and cinnamon- no gooey or buttery, sugary/cinnamon filling. It seemed as if they were microwaved and not fresh 🙁 I also ordered bacon and only got 3 little pieces and for $5 it was not what I was expecting.

FINALLY found a legit SMASHburger! Many claim to offer one but it’s not smashed at all! This is truly a SMASHburger with browned edges and it’s totally delicious! The too-small bun looked strange, but tasted terrific (from the new Emeraude’s Bakery). It’s a no-frills place with friendly service and great food. I did miss my unsweetened tea but the burger was worth drinking water instead.

Stopped in for a couple pints on a weekday afternoon. Obviously this was an off time, so they weren't busy. I managed to have a few conversations with the owner and one of the bartenders. They seem like good people. The beer selection was fair, most notably because they weren't loaded up on IPAs. Overall it was a pleasurable experience. There's no shortage of activities to occupy your time, both indoor and outdoor. I did not partake in any food during this visit, but the menus were a little different (in a good way) and should have a little something for everyone. They seem to shoot for "better than standard pub fare" in the food quality and it shows in some of the ingredients. Riot (formerly Prost & Riot) is now on my radar for usual spots to have a pint.

Very nice family friendly bar and restaurant. The building gives me the vibe of a church fellowship hall but with beer. Good beer on tap too, a nice mix of local and imports. Right now they have Einstok love that! There is a very large fenced in area outside with some play places for kids. The interior has some picnic benches a few seats at the bar and some TVs. Overall a great spot for groups, or families with younger kids. Our bartender was super nice and employees checked on us outside as well. We really enjoyed just hanging out and chatting with everyone.
One thing I would make note of: the entrance off Lebanon Rd is STEEP. If you have a car that sits a little low be very careful, you will scrape or possibly even bottom out. Nothing that can't be handled by taking it at an angle but judging by all the gouges in the asphalt plenty of people have messed up here.
Kid-friendliness: Large area outside for kids to run around.

P&R actually allowed us to use their space for a double birthday on a Sunday when they are normally closed. They placed a sign out front specifying they were having a private event and proceeded to do an incredible job to cater to all of our needs! We had a lot of adults and quite a few children in attendance and everyone was extremely happy with the food and the atmosphere. We have never had a bad meal or anything but exceptional service. Can’t recommend this place enough. Only problem is that I think we aren’t the only people that love it so sometimes the parking lot is full. Haha. Thanks again P&R!
