New to the area and will NEVER try this place again. Sat down ordered drinks. 2 mountain dew. Looked over she opened 2 cans of mountain dew not fountain drinks. Was flat as could be. Prices are outrageous for serving people can drinks and by the way was 7.60 after tax. Didn't even offer us to go cups.

Sorry to say this place over charges for the food you better watch your receipt. Also charges a card fee of probably 10% of the value they charge. The food is mostly fried foods and they over cook it sometimes. Also they serve small portions I'd rather eat and Thompson's Seafood I won't be back.

Great burger! Probably the best in Mountain City! If you order a medium burger, it's cooked perfectly medium and it's full of flavor. No seasoning to cover up this fantastic beef!

Fish and chips delicious. Popcorn shrimp and catfish rated excellent by my husband. Tartar sauce and coleslaw delicious.
Our waitress 'Itty Bitt' very sweet and efficient. Owner/ cook friendly and excellent.

I can not say enough about this place. Nothing fancy BUT oh my goodness the food, service and people are amazing. We are originally from panhandle of Florida, so we know good seafood. This place has some of the best food we’ve had since Florida. The serving size is plentiful. Price is phenomenal. Definitely a family friendly restaurant. My husband got catfish and I got pick 2(clams and popcorn shrimp) both came with fries and coleslaw. Not only did we enjoy the food we enjoyed the company. They have other things than seafood too. Give it a try you will not regret it! We will drive the hour to go again and again. Sorry no pictures, too distracted by the food and portions.

I don't know about the atmosphere because we never dine in but my husband says the service is good but check your order to make you got everything you ordered because we order extra tarter sauce and have never received it not once. The fish and chips is awesome though and a big enough order that we can share and we always get full. ☺

My wife and I drive over to Capt. Jim’s from N.C. Once a month for the Seafood and to say hi to Donald Trump and ask if he has inflation under control yet. We were happy to see scallops on the menu as a special… $24.00 for scallops, a handful of fries and a side salad. It seemed like a fair price and with Trumps recommendation, I expected a “ Big Beautiful Plate “ of scallops! The breading on the scallops was perfect. The salad was delicious..croutons were to die for, and fries were crispy not oily. My only issue was there were only 5 scallops on my plate. My wife and I did the math and that comes to $4.80 per scallop! Lesson learned that may be cheap for Donald Trump but for a normal retiree on a fixed income that is still high. I debated about writing this review because I know if I ever order the scallop special again I will probably get 3 scallops vs 5 scallops but if you are wanting to grow your business listen to your customers because even the customers whose comments you view as “ Crabby “ want to see you succeed. One other point I want to make because I found this out the hard way..the restaurant web site says it is Closed on Sunday…on occasion if the cook/owner decides she will open Sunday from 12p-4 pm. So check Facebook not what is on the web page. I overheard our waitress/ owners daughter telling a customer that they would be open more on Sunday if they had more customers come in. Guessing she did not know the website said they were closed Sunday..well her mother the cook overheard our conversation and quickly set the record straight. Ok I am signing off before my next big beautiful bill is full of “ Up Charges .

Food was great. Good price as well, definitely a highlight of our trip to Mountain City. Will be coming back even though it’s a little bit over an hour from home!

On the bike, started raining so pulled in and thought we'd try it out. Pretty good size portions of fish, and fries. Slaw was good too..big hushpuppies. Going to have to try the snow crab..

Ghost and I have been eating at Capt. Jims since before they even moved to Mountain City. All the food I have eaten has been very tastee and cooked to perfection, and I love seafood, especially the oysters and the scallops. The people there are very friendly and courteous. I gave them a shock one day, they thought I had. died and I walked in the door to their shock 🤣, now I am just Dead Man Walking LOL. I think we might go again tonight ;-)
