My wife and I recently tried this place and we were simply blown away by how great the food is. I've tried their open faced sandwich -- the best I've ever had anywhere. The beef was so tender and moist and packed flavor like you cannot believe. And the brown gravy? It'll make a grown man cry!
The second time I went, I had been craving ribs. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much since this isn't a barbecue joint. Boy, was I wrong. The pork ribs were some of the best I've had in a very long time. Tender, but not overcooked. And my sides: potato salad and cole slaw? The potato salad had the right amount of mustard and weren't overpowered by the mayonnaise. And the cole slaw? The perfect blend of sweet and tangy, not creamy.
The only reason I gave the place one star on atmosphere is because it's not a sit down joint. But the folks who own it are quite friendly and seem like they want you to drive away happy. My wife has a food allergy and they promised me that the next time we ordered soup beans that they would leave the onion out so she could eat it. Good luck getting that kind of service at a chain restaurant.
So before you drive all the way to Kingsport or Johnson City for a meal, give Ragidy Ann's a try. Amazing food!
