Delicious food. Crunchy and sauces are so good.

We have been to Bonchon a handful of times and always enjoyed their delicious food and excellent service but this past Friday the service was lacking in a very specific way. We came around 8:40 and placed our order. It was late in the evening on a Friday and it took around 35-+ minutes for us to receive our food, which we weren’t worried about since they were open till ten and we were in no rush. The food came out and was delicious as usual, but around 9:20 my wife went to get us refills on our drinks at the fountain and the fountain nozzles had already been removed to be cleaned. At 9:30 the staff were already sweeping the lobby area and moping the bathrooms so we weren’t able to use the facilities before we left in addition to not being able to get a single refill on our drinks. The staff were friendly enough while ordering but but the premature breaking down of the soda fountain with no communication and early cleaning made us feel very anxious and unwelcome. We’ve both worked in food service, so we fully understand the desire to get a head start on cleaning and closing and to get out and started on your Friday night, but when a business is open till 10pm, I don’t think making the customers feel like they are in your way 30 -40 minutes before closing time, let alone making them unable to get another refill, is professional service. Keep in mind, we received our food around 9:20. We ate as quickly as we could and got a to go box because we felt so unwelcome and left right before 9:40. We are hesitant to eat there again if the service remains the same. At the very least I’d recommend getting the food to go.

Great food and people! Korean tacos were super flavorful with the right amount spicy mayo! Potstickers have a kick when you add the spicy sauce. Donuts were fluffy and sweet. Chicken wings were super crispy. This place is a hidden gem that everyone should try.

Service is terrible. They will not ensure your order is right, they will shove it out of the window rudely, and do not care about your lost time bringing it back for correction.

If you've got an addictive personality, look out! This may be your new obsession. The crispy chicken, crunchy mopo corndogs, savory bulgolgi, or the soft warm donuts in that sweet sweet dippin sauce..woo! I got to calm down now, but yeah, good stuff. But don't take my word for it; go get you some and see for yourself

I have been here a few times and the other location in Smyrna and don’t get me wrong. I had the Japchae and bulgogi fries and they were good but for quite literally like 4 months straight, the teokbokki has been unavailable and there were items previously on the menu that featured rice cakes that I wanted to try and could never order because it was never available. If yall would just keep things in stock then I would visit more but I mainly wanted to come to this place directly for the teokbokki.

Ordered the Chicken Katsu, Kimchi, and MoPo Corndog to go. None of the items had much flavor. The kimchi was the most bland I've ever tasted. The chicken was fried nicely, but also had no added flavors. The corn dog was okay. I was genuinely baffled by the lack of flavor in the kimchi since its not the easiest thing to mess up. Over all, it was filling enough, but lacked flavor.

I was hoping for fresh food, like you get in Korea or on the west coast, since I’m from there - but what I got was not fresh, and it made me realize that Tennessee is not a place for light, fresh foods. The vegetables just don’t seem to hold up in delivery here or something. It was very expensive and not very good. I’m sorry :/

i never leave bad reviews but oh well i have to cause im concerned about my health.. went here yesterday, & when i tell you i feel like i have food poisoning from their food. i got a chicken sandwich w fries & bao buns. i have not eaten anything all day yesterday got off work and got some bonchon, after eating it i didn’t feel anything at all but 2 hours later i started to feel nauseous and my stomach was hurting so bad. this never happened to me after eating anything unless the food quality is really bad but despite drinking lots of water + gatorade & resting today is the next day, i went through their reviews to see if im the only one w this problem & it turns out i am not. my stomach is hurting & i still feel nauseous, i don’t have any appetite. this place is horrible and they need to check on their food. it also does not taste like korean food or anything. i should not feel this way the next day after eating that. i’m so irritated and i wont ever be back here, truly a waste of money & disgusting.

I live in an area that doesn’t have any Korean food of any kind so when I travel I always look for Tteokbokki specifically. This place has reasonable prices and it’s not overly spicy but has a enjoyable kick. I’m very glad to have stumbled across this place.

Bonchon is a go-to for those who enjoy high-quality fried chicken with a unique, flavorful twist. The crispy texture and bold sauces set it apart from other fried chicken places, and the side dishes provide a balanced, complete Korean dining experience. If you’re looking for something beyond standard fried chicken, Bonchon is definitely worth a try.

Given I ate at CM Chicken in Knoxville, I had a certain expectation for Korean chicken. Now maybe there are different styles, but this was not it for me. Chicken pieces dunked in some kind of overly sweet batter, then fried until lightly yellow, sauced with sweet sauce (even the Korean BBQ sauce, which was supposed to be hot, was sweet) and stuck in a box. It was edible and may appeal to the most "American" palette of sweet, focus on batter, and sauced with more sweetness. But there was barely even the promised crunch. They're doing what they're doing well, it's just not something I want. And the price is a bit steep for just chicken alone.
