Outlanders Southern Chicken

If you haven’t had Outlanders hot chicken, you haven’t had hot chicken. I lived in Nashville for 6.5 years and got to try a bunch of places, but Outlanders had me coming back 1-2 times a week even though it was 25 minutes from my house. Over the years, I’ve brought everyone I love here at least once, and I’ve even brought people I don’t like because there’s no one on earth deserves Hattie B’s in a world where Outlanders exists.

Sadly for me, I moved away from Nashville a year ago and now quarterly trips to get the best hot chicken are the closest I get to heaven. Since I moved, one delicious change they’ve made is offering beef tallow fries, which I HIGHLY recommend (although I still order the OG fries because it’s the flavour I’ve loved and missed). My go-to order is the hot chicken basket with extra crispy fries and extra crispy tenders, extra pickles on the side, two freebies sauces (like a traditional buffalo) and one ranch.

If you haven’t friends and family who aren’t into hot chicken, they can order a regular chicken basket and get the chicken tenders dry or tossed in any of the house-made sauces (also available on the side). They also have grilled chicken in case you have any glutards amongst you (my mum prefers to eat gluten free), and there’s even a salad.

We always seem to go here for the chicken and fried pickles. It was my granddaughters lunch choice. They like the rubber ducky crane machine.

The Nashville hot chicken is amazing! And if you’ve never had your chicken or fries cooked in the beef tallow, you gotta try it!

Just came in from Colorado while passing through. This is the best Fried Chicken I have ever had. Super sweet and kind servers, and some finger lickin sauces. I got the hot chicken basket and my partner is annoyed because I can’t stop talking about it. 5 stars.

Just had a team event at the restaurant! I can’t say enough about the food, atmosphere and service! Top notch service! Food was amazing! Atmosphere was fun and unique! We were in town from Cleveland so knew nothing about the area or restaurants. So glad we went there! Had the best time and the owner accommodated our group so much!

longtime loyal customers here who truly enjoy Outlanders, which is why i am disappointed to even have to write this.

My wife went to pick up our order recently and followed the usual process: she called when she arrived, like we always do. Unfortunately, no one ever came out. After waiting, she ended up having to go inside in her pajamas — not exactly what she planned — and it looked like other customers were having the same issue. If this is a staffing challenge, a simple heads-up for pickup orders would go a long way in managing expectations.

On top of that, the sauces were incorrect again. Which happens a lot. Normally we just let small things slide, but since we still haven’t heard back from the restaurant after reaching out directly, it feels important to mention it. It’s frustrating to get home and realize things are wrong, and it would be great to trust that our order is correct without having to double-check every single time.

We love this place, and that’s exactly why we’re sharing this feedback. We respect the business and hope to get at least a call back or some acknowledgment. Loyal customers just want to feel valued in return.

Outlanders is a great chicken restaurant located in Nolensville. It used to be a McDougals, but spun off into it's own restaurant, but it's still very similar. The chicken and fries are always hot and fresh. Protip - if they have the espresso brownies, you have to try them!

This is the first review I’ve ever written, and it is necessary. Outlander’s blew me away with kindness yesterday. I placed an order for a chicken strip basket just before taking a tumble down my stairs at home. I am 31 weeks pregnant and forgot all about the order as we went to the OBED — until the restaurant called an hour or so past the pickup time to see if I was still coming, and my husband explained what had happened. After discharge, we had just enough time to make it by Outlander’s before close. My husband headed in to see if the order was still there, with plans of just heating it up at home so we didn’t have to cook for dinner. It would have been understandable if they had simply thrown it out by then or handed it off cold… but the kids working remade my order to be hot and fresh right before close, something they certainly did not have to do and I would never have expected. It was just a chicken strip basket (delicious as always!), but it meant a lot to my little family after a long, stressful and scary evening. Thank you!
