Very cute spot! The wines were good and the staff was nice and attentive despite it being a busy day.
Not for dry wine folks
We've been coming to Apple valley for 10 years. We usually love it there as so many people do. This time something had changed. We fully understand that employees are retiree who came back to work , which we love that apple valley gave that opportunity to our elderly. They usually seem so nice and joyous. We went right after Christmas. And order as we usually do. The ladies don't seem excited to see customers. They jammed all 4 of our orders in 1 tray. Which is fine. Not a problem for 1 tray . The issue is the payment time. We explained politely to the man at cash register that we're paying separately. And he said that we made it confusing for having the order all in one tray. (But we didnt ask for that). He was getting upset for us trying to pay separately. We understand getting confused. But to be verbally upset at customers is just wrong. And we solely believe he doesn't care for us Asians very much considering he was very nice to the folks in front of us and the ones behind us.
Bought tickets for the smokey mountain wine and moonshine tour, host (MANDA) was very rude and impatient with guest. Was not welcomed by said host and had very little knowledge of the wines produced by the company. I am very regretful that I had to encounter such poor customer service.
Whenever we visit the Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge area, we make it a point to visit Apple Barn Winery. The highlight of our visit is when Mikayla happens to be working when we stop. She is not only knowledgeable about the wines, but she's also very friendly and welcoming, making our experience a pleasant one.
Apple Barn Winery offers an excellent experience from start to finish, driven by truly exceptional service. The staff was welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable, making the tasting feel relaxed, polished, and genuinely enjoyable.
The grounds around the Apple Barn are a standout feature. They are scenic, well maintained, and add a sense of place that elevates the visit beyond a simple tasting. It is an environment that encourages slowing down and enjoying the surroundings.
One of the highlights of the tasting was the Apple Julep winter seasonal wine, served at room temperature. It delivered a warm, apple forward character that felt perfectly suited to the season and stood out as a memorable pour. While there was no single non seasonal wine that dominated the lineup, every offering was very good across the board, showing consistency and care in the winemaking.
Overall, this winery excels in service, setting, and quality, making it a rewarding and well rounded stop in the area.
Had a good experience here doing a wine tasting. The lady conducting the serving was friendly and spoke on the different wines, but the overall experience was a bit rushed.
Tankful for the recommendation for the tasting pass, saved us some money overall.
Terrible service from Mike at the wine tasting bar. His tone was condescending and borderline insulting. We always purchase 6-12 bottles while we are in town. Because of Mike’s terrible attitude, I walked out without purchasing anything at all.
We visit everytime we come to the area, but this time was exceptional. The bartender we had, Tush, was absolutely amazing and was the highlight of our visit!
Thomas made our entire experience top notch.

Will not honor receipt if you misplace the vochure good for 7 days
The Apple Barn has been a favorite of ours for the past 20+ years. Unfortunately, though, we left highly disappointed this visit. While the wine is truly delicious, it's an expensive tasting experience and the most expensive price per bottle in the area. The server was clearly only there to pour; barely spoke, was not friendly and did not appear to be knowledgable about the wines at all. The restaurant was lacluster at best and again....noone was friendly or welcoming. Every interaction felt as though we were just part of a machine. Lastly, I paid $8 for a carmel apple. All the carmel pulled off the apple with the wrapper. Total waste of money. Sadly, I don't think we'll be making a return visit.
Unfriendly and no customer service. Literally stood at the bar and employee looked at me, didn’t smile, and looked away. When I asked what my options were he said, none until you give me your id and laughed - but in a jerk way not I’m being cute way. I said fine, I’ll take the option to leave. Don’t bother at this tourist trap
I stop in every time I am up to get there blackberry cobbler bread it is to die for. Put in microwave to get just warm like 10 seconds and add a scope of vanilla ice-cream.
We absolutely loved Applewood Winery! Thomas was absolutely amazing, he made my wine tasting the best experience. He was so friendly, funny and welcoming. The wine was perfect, but Thomas made our entire day.
