Staying in Gatlinburg (15 min drive) and hungry for BBQ stopped at a few near town, not impressed (small portions, high prices) enough to stay and eat. Saw Preacher’s Smokehouse on google maps and drove past the arts and crafts row and there it was - plenty of free parking, nice area to eat in plenty of long tables for groups too, casual eats and owners are friendly, honest hardworking people. Had the burnt ends in a savory, sweet bbq sauce which were tender and melted in your mouth, brisket chili just wow! Flavorful, meaty, the chili flavor was right on point, coleslaw nice and sweet, finally chopped perfect with all the meaty goodness. Husband ordered the Brunswick stew (hey too many great choices had to try it) beans and a wonderful savory broth excellent. I ordered their famous banana pudding that was pure heaven so light and fluffy banana pieces, wafer cookies - perfect end to a great meal by wonderful people. Thanks Preachers Smokehouse! Highly recommend.

You pull in to a hole in the wall with tons of 5 star reviews and expect at minimum decent food. I love bbq and live in Georgia. I unfortunately can’t recommend this place even in desperation. This ruined my day as someone excited to try some bbq.

Fantastic food. The hush puppies are a must they are the best we've ever had. We got the sampler platter which has a little bit of everything. The ribs literally fell off bone. The fries well seasoned and crispy. The pork and chicken were tender and flavorful. The mac and cheese creamy and delicious. The sausage was our favorite. A must try if you are in the area.

I loved the down home “hole in the wall”location. The people were very folksy like I was expecting. But, the reason we came here was for the food and that is where they shine. These were the best ribs I’ve ever had. The flavor was great and they literally fall of of the bone. There was a dry rub on them and they were delicious just like that. I also tried them with a couple of the house sauces and that was tasty as well. The sides were all scratch made and you can taste it. To me, the cole slaw stood out as 10/10. I also had the potato salad and it was very good. My wife and I shared a delicious banana pudding and left there full to the brim.
I’m giving them five stars and plan to return every time Im in the area.

Great bbq! Meats were moist and smoky. Delish sauces. Sides were ok. Rural mountain setting. Polite, friendly service. Family atmosphere.

We drove 40 minutes to find this little shack and tent in the middle of nowhere. I had really high hopes, but they fell short. I had burnt ends, baked beans, and coleslaw. I didn't care for any of it. The burnt ends didn't taste right and we're covered in a runny sauce. The beans and slaw tasted like store bought. Others in the group had brisket and smoked sausage. They were both ok. Other sides were mac and cheese, fries, and hush puppies. The hush puppies and Mac and cheese were tasty. You order at a window and then eat in a little shed or in a tent close by at picnic tables. Staff was very friendly. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there again.
