Just came for dinner. It’s Friday night at 7pm. They’re closed. Everywhere online says they’re currently open including their website.

The food was really good. Birrieria Tacos were good and we liked the other dishes. The service that we received from the young man that served us was awesome. He was informative, professional, and friendly. Only critique: the place could've been cleaned up just a little more. Floors swept, and especially the bathroom cleaned. Being a restaurant, it is hard to not think that unclenliness does not spill into the kitchen.Other than that, great job.

Pulled up and the whole place is empty, just all the kitchen equipment in a pile on the floor in the center. Read the reviews and wanted to see what it was all about. Still leaving 5 stars in everything because you could tell what it once was in all its glory. Judging by reviews, I was just a day too late! Must have been 12hours late to the SHARKS!

My family and I came up to Gatlinburg for vacation. We were in the mood for some tasty Mexican food. After visiting Dollywood, we went to Tamales Express about 9 pm but unfortunately it was closed. We looked online for a suitable alternative and found this eatery.Unfortunately, they too were closed...and apparently closing their business! Out of desperation (and hunger) I had knocked on the door and spoke with the owner/proprietor Jose about our struggles of finding decent Mexican fare while on vacation. Guess what? Jose was also the owner/proprietor of Tamales Express as well !! ?Well, let me tell you....out of kindness, Jose offered to cook my family and I some food to go...and charged us comparatively little for it!We asked for a chicken burrito, queso birrias and a birria burrito. They were VERY flavorful and the portions were of a nice size. Furthermore, Jose's (and his colleague's) generosity and compassion made the food that more satisfying ?I mentioned to Jose that is sad to see a business close...especially when the food and passion was there! At least the sister eatery (Tamales Express) will be there...and I am sure the food is equally delicious there too. Jose--again, thank you for what you did for my family and I on that night on Dec. 28th. I hope this review inspires and brings more clientelle to try your delicious food at Tamales Express ?☝

It was Christmas Eve at 11am, We ordered three quesabirrias, one birria combo and a birria burrito with three horchatas, a Dr. Pepper and a sprite. We didn't have an option to tip because the tip was already included and paid $124.00The flavor wasn't special and the didn't have sweet tea, different Jarrito's flavors and what really disappointed me other that being to pricey it was that we didn't receive any condiments like hot sauces, shopped onions, lemons or anything to add to the dishes.I am not coming back!!!

The food was pretty good, however the service was lacking. Waited over an hour for my meal, and never was informed why. Later heard the host explaining to new customers who were entering that they would experience an hour + wait due to issues with the gas stove. But like I said, despite my table waiting over an hour we never got an explanation or even so much as an apology. That was really off putting, and if I knew it would've been that long we certainly would've left. However the food was pretty decent- despite the fact that my tables meals were brought 15 minutes apart. My entire table finished eating their lunch by the time mine was brought out. This place really has potential but needs a few changes.
