Incredible food and lowkey atmosphere! Decided last minute to stop here as they had good Gluten Free options and ended up having some of the best food I've ever had. Highly recommend and very worth the extra few bucks for a nicer place!

My husband, daughter, and myself wanted a good steak dinner. The restaurant was nice the staff was nice but the food was just okay it wasn’t bad but it was not something to write home about. The food seemed to be very bland.

We had a group of 16 come in Saturday for two birthdays and we had a wonderful time! Savannah and Sam were so amazing and attentive and handled our crew so well. From the chefs and the GM coming to check in on us it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the service from everyone was incredible and everyone had a wonderful time. Next time we’re back in town, we will definitely be back!

This was easily a 12/10 dining experience and one that truly stands out from any restaurant visit before it. From the moment we arrived at The Appalachian, the atmosphere felt welcoming, intentional, and elevated without being intimidating.

Chef Derek and Chef Joe are not only incredibly talented, but deeply passionate about what they do—and that passion translates directly to the plate. Each dish was prepared with care, creativity, and balance, and they took the time to walk us through every component of the meal. The food pairings were thoughtful and well-executed, and nothing felt rushed or overlooked.

What truly set this experience apart was the level of engagement. They explained techniques, shared recipes, and made us feel included in the process rather than just served. Being offered one-on-one chef tastings speaks volumes about their confidence, generosity, and commitment to hospitality.

GM Dan completed the experience with exceptional leadership and warmth. His attention to detail and genuine care for guests was evident and elevated the entire evening. The staff as a whole was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the space feel comfortable and inviting.

This wasn’t just a meal it was an experience rooted in passion, education, and connection. Without a doubt, one of the best restaurants I’ve been to, and a place I will absolutely be returning to.

Appalachian Restaurant delivered a wonderful dining experience. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent! Savannah was attentive, friendly, and made us feel well taken care of throughout the evening. What set the experience apart was the head chef personally coming to our table to explain each dish (all locally grown), which added such a thoughtful and personal touch. To top it off, my friend was surprised with a dessert of her choice for her birthday, which made the night even more special. Everyone at the table thoroughly enjoyed their food. We will definitely be back!

The service itself was excellent, and our waitress handled a tough situation professionally. Unfortunately, the experience fell apart beyond that. Management seemed disorganized—two items we ordered were unavailable, and our server had to repeatedly return with disappointing updates.

The food missed the mark across the board. Instead of rolls or bread, we were served an unappealing cornbread. The vegetables were undercooked, the potato cakes were extremely dry, and the cobbler was genuinely bad.

The atmosphere was equally confusing. The restaurant aims for a high-end steakhouse vibe, but the shabby-chic farm chairs and mismatched artwork clashed badly. Rather than feeling like a thoughtful fusion of styles, the decor felt jarring and uncomfortable.

Overall, great service—but poor execution in food, management, and ambiance.

10/10 experience for sure!! Filet mignons were out of this world! The appetizers are unique and so delicious! Every side dish was superb! Service is impeccable!! I have not one negative thing to say about The Appalachian! The most wonderful experience of our family and the kids cannot stop talking about the steaks!

Absolutely amazing food! Staff was well informed with the menu. Was able to sit next to the Christmas tree watching food prep. I assume was the manager he greeted us and I noticed him checking the food prior to going out. The chefs behind the counter looked in sync. 10/10 and that's saying alot. I tried the Rainbow Trout and they nailed it!

This place is by FAR the nicest “fine dining” experience in sevierville period! Unbelievable service and the best steak I’ve ever had period! I had the 18oz Kansas City strip that’s aged!

First things first: Tyler was a phenomenal server. He paced our meal perfectly and provided incredible recommendations. Almost everything we had was at his behest. We asked him questions with obscure answers, and nothing stumped him! He’s obviously very well-trained and overall a very charming server. My family and I had the buffalo frog legs and the smoked bone marrow as starters. Tyler brought us warm towels to clean our hands with after the frog legs. Both dishes were rich in flavor. The bone marrow was the perfect texture, and the frog legs were the most tender I’ve ever had. We had a perfectly balanced cocktail that I remember the name of, but it was like a French 75 with lavender. The picture is attached.

For our entrees, we had the hanger steak (holy tenderness, it was good) with the best gnocchi I’ve ever had and the lamb with cheese grits and a blackberry reduction, which was a lovely combination. Our entrees came with some real, southern cornbread, too! For dessert, we grabbed some goat cheese cheesecake to go, because we were so full. At places like this, you often leave hungry, but all of the portions were large, with generous amounts of meat. The cheesecake was amazing, but somehow sweeter than I expected. The berry sauce was sharp and delicious.

I would recommend this place to anyone. Every dish is thoughtfully created and plated. The menus are printed out every day based on seasonal availability, so you get to take your menu with you as a keepsake if you’d like to. The first page is a huge list of all of their local partners that they source their ingredients from. There was a huge list of spirits, too. I loved the open kitchen design with the huge, roaring fire for everyone to see. Watching the chefs work like a well-oiled machine was a distinct privilege. If you have some extra cash or something to celebrate, come here! And heed your server’s recommendations: they really know what they’re talking about.
