Filet was amazing! My husband really enjoyed the frog legs and I love the roasted cauliflower. There were plenty of gluten free options which is always a 5 star for me!
So disappointed. We took my wife's cousin and her husband out to the Appalachian for their 50th anniversary. We told them they'd love the place. I like to support local businesses that aren't big chains. The Appalachian can do better. Service was good, the atmosphere is welcoming and they have nice artwork displayed. Having said all of that, my disappointment started with the menu. They don't do a lot of different things, most of the offerings are steak. So if you're going to concentrate on steak, please make sure that your grill cook know how to cook meat to temperature. I worked as a cook in a fine restaurant for 10 years, so I know my temps! Our table ordered three things off the grill. The hamburger was ordered medium-well. At best, it came out medium-rare. We sent it back. I was thinking, 'its a really nice restaurant, they'll prepare a completely new burger. But no, they just re-heated the one we had rejected, so the garnish, bun, etc. wilted and got stale while the burger was re-cooked. And at-best, the re-cook came out medium, not medium-well. And then there were the steaks. We got two steaks, both costing $60. Its a fairly high price for a steak, and we expected them to be delicious, which they were, but again, both were under-cooked. The filet, ordered mid-well, cam out medium rare, and the ribeye, ordered medium, was rare. On a positive note, the quail was wonderful. Sorry to say, but I doubt we'll be back to visit the Appalachian.

One of our favorite places. Every time we come to the Smokies we come here for a great meal. Nothing beats fresh local food.

This whole experience has been beyond incredible. The food was perfection and then some. We were sat down at 5pm and our food was out and ready around 20-30 minutes later!! The water was ready to go RIGHT AWAY which to me is a massive pet peeve for a restaurant to not have beverages ready asap. The chef came up to us, gave us tidbit information about the food and how they prepare it. Highly recommended.

For the price, the food would be either a two or three star rating. If the price wasn’t so high, maybe you could rate it a three but it’s not great. My daughter‘s duck was almost inedible because it was so tough. I ordered the Appalachian hamburger Medium well/well done and it was raw. Do not order the hummus if you are a hummus person because that appetizer leaves a lot to be desired. The atmosphere is nice because of the fire and the customer service is alright but not great. However, the owner or manager did come around twice. The tables are small and the chairs are unsubstantial. They don’t fit the environment. We went here for a special, sentimental evening, and it was fine, but we won’t return due to the price point compared to everything else, including the quality of the food.

Can’t recommend this restaurant enough. The food was amazing, drinks were great, and service was absolutely excellent. The staff are exceptional and check in with you to make sure everything is up to standard. I went here for dinner for my birthday and loved it. The server that we had was excellent and went above and beyond to ensure it was a great birthday dinner, he offered to get a dessert on him but I was full from the dinner so he ended up covering one of my drinks I had ordered instead. That service blew me away. I recommend going here for an amazing experience top to bottom.

Wonderful restaurant! The staff was very welcoming and our sever was fantastic even though I believe he was the only one working. The steak was delicious and we enjoyed the chef coming to tell us about our meal. We finished the night with the salty dog cocktail and loved it. Only thing is I wish they had the fried chicken skins.. Thank you!

Shrimp was unseasoned, Filet Mignon (ordered medium) was 90% burnt on the outside so all you could taste was char. For the price, and the wait, you wouldn’t expect a low quality order.

20/10 stars! Loved this place. Unique menu and huge Steaks. Me and the hubs shared a 20 oz ribeye with one side , and appetizer. It was soooo good. We didn't realize the menu was rotating and different every day but it was great!!!
