Stopped at Southern Fare…a Meat & Three in Shelbyville. Sat at the counter and Kim got me set up…very sweet lady. Saw some things pass by out of the kitchen and the onion rings really caught my eye so I went for the Country Fried Chicken with double mashed and a side of the onion rings. Solid meal…real mashed potatoes, tender juicy chicken, and LOVED the fried cornbread. The onion rings were awesome, love the light breading and the onions still had their “bite”…great flavor! What I really liked about the meal served, it was not overly seasoned or salty. Everything I saw delivered to various tables looked absolutely delicious. All of the folks here were so welcoming and Kim took excellent care of me. Chatted with the owner Randy and you could tell he is very proud of this place…as well he should be. Great food and service at a very reasonable price!!!

Great staff. Best for breakfast. Unhealthy lunches if you’re watching what you eat. Lots of fried things, carbs galore. Food tastes great just will kill u if it becomes a weekly habit other than breakfast. Parking tight. We got hit there

We don’t eat at chains when we’re traveling. Found this diner and was super pleased with everything! Our waitress was awesome. Hate that I didn’t get her name. We love places like this in small towns.

Frozen chicken fried steak, potatoes, and the gravy was bland as hell. I knew better and should of asked if it was frozen but thought being in the south they'd know better ? I have know idea how some of these reviews raved about this spot ? They must have no taste buds or friends of owner. Waitress was great !

I finally made it by for lunch. What a disappointing experience. The fish was grainy with a strange texture and no flavor. The breading was tough and soaked with grease, which tells me the grease wasn’t hot enough when it was fried. I shouldn’t have ordered it after asking three times what kind of fish it was, was told they were out of catfish, and that this fish was a good substitute. I’m sitting here looking at my second piece of fish, and I just cannot choke it down. I only ate the first one because I was starving. I still don’t know what kind of fish I tried to eat. The fried green tomatoes were tasteless. The mixed beans were passable. But, that cornbread/hoecake was the worst I’ve ever had. Whomever fried it didn’t have their grease hot enough, so it soaked the grease up like a sponge. It was dripping on the paper, which was also soaked with grease. I really wanted to have a good local Southern cooking go-to, but sadly this isn’t it.

I don’t normally write reviews, most of them are bad. I was in shelbyville today and Google restaurants near me. I came across this one and decided to check it out, Just because it is a Mom and Pop restaurant. I was greeted at the door by a very nice gentleman, Which sent me under some old signs that reminded me of my uncle who has passed. Waitress, Pam treated me like I was part of the family and talk to me like she’s known me for years. Mind you this is my first time ever going. The food was amazing, Just down the Earth people and homestyle food. I wish I could go back soon, but I work on the days that they’re open. Maybe one of these days. I can’t wait for my T-shirt. Pam got my number. So when they get new T-shirts and I can get one. Thank you so much for your service Pam you were great. Also, a big shout out to the cooks. Great food guys.

The food here is just incredible. The best omelets anywhere. I rarely get to come here because they're only open Monday thru Friday, but when I do get a day off, I'll be here for breakfast or lunch. Everything here is the best. If you want southern cooking, this is the place.
