If it wasn't for the nice fast service this place would've got a 1. Idk how other Mexicans can rate this food above 1 star. It was by far the worse experience of Mexican food I've ever had and I love mexican. Been to many all over America. My taco was burnt my queso chorizo was like made with cheap cheese that was barely melted and the chorizo was extremely dry. Salsa bad and not very tasteful. Chips overcooked and lastely the enchiladas don't even taste like they was freshly made. All around disaster for mexican food. Recommend trying elsewhere. Very nice waitress was amazing and fast service but other than that skip!

Lunch could've been better. Rice was a bit hard and crunchy. Was recommended breakfast. Maybe I'll try it.

The service from the waiters was flat-out horrible. Besides that, the food was greasy, unappetizing and horrendous. I asked for the Mexican burger and the fries looked freshly peeled and doused with grease straight from the fryer pan. The waiter was rude and while I asked for a coffee, she cut me off by saying “ we don’t serve breakfast at this time” I didn’t ask for breakfast. Clearly, waiters are clueless on how to wait a table.Never coming here again at all. If you like a quick lunch and want to risk your health, by all means. If not, you have better chances microwaving your food at home. At least you’ll know what you’ll get.

I had Panchos and loved them. Service and staff was excellent! I was referred here by Bronco 956 to have lunch. We ate here and had a pleasant experience. The owner, was very nice too.

Had a potato/egg plate and 2 flour tortillas, had beans that were soupy and very watery. Coffee was good, service was ok, server was not the best. Paid 10.15 for the breakfast...had potato/egg with good beans, tortillas and much better service at Los Compadres in Edinburg for $7.08.

First, it's loud, 2 tvs with 1 Spanish and 1 English show and then music on speakers all going on at same time. The server would forget what we asked for and wrote order on his hand.I ordered Nopales with picadillo and the other plate was carne guisada and fajita taco. This is not picadillo and the fajitas was bisteak and tasted bad/old.The only thing good was salsa & chips.First & last time I will come here.

i have been to this place before and the nachos were very good. now a few years later much has changed. this is the first time i experienced racial discrimination mexican to a caucasion. the breakfast was served cold. although it was cooked except for the potatoes which were only thawed from the freezer. at check out the clerk taking money from 2 men in front of us were making snarky remarks and one went behind my back and continued antics. his friend was looking sheepish but was part of it as well as all the staff who were around. when i pressed to know what was so funny the first clerk went away and our waitress took our payment and was unwilling to explain except some lame words that the one man was the other waitresses boyfriend. i am sorry there is so much unacceptable behavior towards them but we went there because we were hungry not to be disrespected. the only reason i give a 2 is they made sure the coffee cup was full. we have not been sick from the food so thats good but not sure if they spit in the food to show further disrespect. not good for carmalitas business....

First, the pros. The Caldo de Res was good. Very flavorful. And the tostadas were super crunchy. The food didn’t take too long either. For the cons, I have more. We didn’t have to be waited on, cause we ordered to go. However, the lady that took our order wasn’t the kindest. We also specifically asked for no avocado or guacamole on the tostadas. They told us it didn’t come with either of them on it. But, our order had A LOT of avocado on top of our tostadas. The beans on the tostadas were runny and watery for some reason. The rice was terrible, to the point that it wasn’t even fully cooked, or it was old. Because there were a lot of hard pieces in it, and it was overall inedible. They provided no utensils or napkins, even though both were requested. We originally asked for the cup of Caldo that it has advertised on their menu, and they told us they don’t have and have never carried the cup. And our bill came out more expensive than what the menu showed. Not by a whole lot, but if you had your last $10 here, you’d prolly have to have a few extra dollars on you just in case it isn’t the price they show on the menus, and no, the tickets do not show the prices they charged.Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend this place and I personally wouldn’t eat here again.
