My mom and I like to meet at wineries/ wine bars once a month that halfway for us (parents live in Crystal Lake and I live in LaSalle). Goat and Vine was an excellent restaurant with delicious food and a variety of top notch wines! On top of that, our server made our first time experience that much better; I highly recommend!!
Ya’ll did my gf private party bogus. You def owe that family a refund!
I really didn’t want to have to do this, but I gave Goat & Vine Restaurant + Winery a month to correct this situation, and sadly they have not. I would not want anyone to get taken advantage of and ripped off like we did, so here it goes! My mom and I booked a party here for the dinner after my dad’s memorial service. It was a very long, emotional week and easily the hardest days of my life so far. When we booked the package for 30 people, they told us the server would keep an eye on the trays and refill them when they were low. After all, isn’t that the whole point of hiring a “professional” establishment…to not have to worry about anything?! We had: 1 bowl of bread, 1 bowl of lettuce (can’t even qualify as a salad bc there was nothing else in it), 1 tray of chicken, 1 tray of *undercooked* gnocci, 1 tray of broccoli and 1 tray of potatoes. This was supposed to be unlimited refills for 2 hours. THEY NEVER REFILLED THE TRAYS. 🤯 (they refilled the undercooked gnocchi, please see the photo, and some potatoes at the VERY end when a guest finally said something to our server, Megan. But mostly everyone was gone at this point bc it was over.) The server barely served nor refilled any soft drinks which were also supposed to be included. When we talked to our guests afterwards, they all said it took forever to get any drinks and went up for more food, but there was none left. Beyond disappointing. My mom and I had NO clue this happened bc we were busy talking to our friends and family and didn’t notice everyone going up for more food and leaving empty handed. None of our guests said anything to us at the time bc they thought that was all we paid for! How embarrassing. I would never have expected to have to micromanage an event that we paid mandatory gratuity for…since that is their job and not ours. (And fyi I worked in the service industry for at least 15 years as a server and bartender. I would never expect the party to tell me to do my job.) Chocolate covered strawberries were supposed to be included for 30 people, there were maybe 15. We paid EXTRA for chocolate cake, but they were out, so they took it upon themselves to substitute their chocolate mint cake and it was horrible. No one ate it…and they still charged us even though it’s not even what we ordered. At the end when I realized nothing was ever refilled, Megan ran off to get the manager, Angela. Angela told me, “since you ordered for 30 people, we gave 40 pieces of chicken. If you wanted more, you would’ve had to pay for more.” (I did not see the chicken, but guests said the pieces were small.) Not that they refilled anything else anyway! At this point, I’m so confused and exhausted, I thought maybe I misunderstood the initial agreement. The next day when I realized I was correct and it was supposed to be unlimited for 2 hours, I spoke with Angela again and she said, “ Megan said everyone was done eating…” EXCUSE ME…WHAT?!?! How did the server that was barely around and couldnt even keep up with drinks, decide that a party of 30 people is done after 4 trays?!?!!! Her job was to refill when empty, not to decide everyone was done when they weren’t. And why not ask the people paying for the party if everyone is done?! Also, interesting how Angela changed her story. 🤔 To sum this up, they completely dropped the ball and did not deliver their end of the contract. WE DID NOT GET WHAT WE PAID FOR… NOT EVEN CLOSE. They KNOW IT and they REFUSE to refund for what we did not receive. The restaurant was not busy at this time. Someone else should have been helping if it was too much for one person to handle. They were incompetent and we suffered the consequences of it. We paid $2,500 for not even $1,000 worth of food/drinks if we had just paid for trays. They have offered gift cards and a free dinner, but that will not nearly amount to what we completely overpaid. Dealing with them unsuccessfully for a month when we have enough to take care of is an additional slap in the face from them after they completely failed this important day for us. Do yourselves
One of the best experiences I have shared, a very pleasant atmosphere to share with friends

Went on a weeknight for our anniversary dinner and was somewhat surprised that there were very few patrons. Service was GREAT! Ambience was nice. We were expecting better quality food, but came to the conclusion that this is more of a wine+brunch type of restaurant. The salad was delicious though; I'd recommend and if i were to visit again I'd stick with that and a glass of wine.
Visited over the weekend for the first time. The lasagna was very flavorful and balanced well. The truffle cacio e Pepe tasted amazing and noodles were cooked perfectly. The chicken piccata, delicious. The chicken was so tender and the sauce was amazing. We also ordered the rose and watermelon moscato which were tasty. The ambiance was great with not being too loud. I think this place is great for a date night, gathering, or a business meeting.

Well, the first time I took my friend to this place, I had a great service. There was a young lady on training she treated us like a million dollar, lol. I had ordered salmon salad, and it was horrible, I forgot what my friend ordered some kind of pasta she said it was good, appetizer we had carrot cake it was huge slice of cake, it was beautiful to look and tasted great ? cocktail was good.
After that we went 2 time men food and service it doesn't worth 1 dollar, service was horrible we had to ask for the same thing 3 or 4 times, salmon and asparagus was my order dry peace of fish with completely
over cooked asparagus, no kind of sauce on it it was horrible, I had to give them a 1 dollar tip so they could get the massage ?
Beautiful name, beautiful place, horrible service. Sad sad sad... ?

Took two relatives to celebrate a double birthday. Something has happened to this Restaurant as it is not the same as when it first opened. It was unbearably warm and we had to ask the manager to turn down the air conditioner which they never did. The grilled vegetables that we normally requested in the past to dip in the goat cheese came out more like overly sautéed oily sludge, not dippable. The amazing lobster bisque of the past is now more like lobster broth. Absent of the familiar chunks of lobster, pastry puffs, cream and caviar. Totally out of fries, out of eggplant parm, chocolate cake (that we came for) is now off the menu as well as some of the other incredible desserts that once existed. Lemon cake was sub-par. And to top it all off the membership bottle of wine has been eliminated. Let me know when the old quality returns and then I will too. The only reason I didn’t give negative stars was the waiter was very good. I felt bad for him.

This was my first visit to Goat and Vine. Our lunch started off with the bruschetta which was delicious! It went downhill from there. The lobster bisque came and was ice cold. I asked the waiter if they intentionally served it cold (I have never had cold lobster bisque). He said no and took it back to the kitchen. It was definitely hot when he brought it back but also incredibly salty. Our main dishes came and my son’s pasta dish had so little sauce it was like eating just pasta. My gnocchi (was supposed to have walnuts but I guess they forgot them )was microwaved so long it was dry, dense and hard and so salty it was inedible and I had to send it back. I had ordered a lasagna to go and when it arrived at the table I was concerned because the container was cold to the touch. I opened it and although the lasagna was warm, the sauce was ice cold, so much so that the cheese on top was not melted at all. The prices suggest a little more of an upscale restaurant (pasta with no protein was $25) but the food is anything but especially when 3 of our 5 dishes had to be sent back and the 4th was barely edible. They weren’t busy because we were literally the only table. So disappointed.

I went into goat and Vine further first time this evening. I said at the bar alone. It took 15 minutes to be at knowledge because there was not actually a bartender. I ordered the baked goat cheese and it took 25 minutes to arrive by then I had drank two glasses of wine. The wine was all right, nothing special. They were out of the Pinot noir I wanted so I had to settle for the Zinfandel.
The appetizer was lackluster. The description says baked goat cheese when in actuality it’s a lump of goat cheese in marinara sauce and it wasn’t even warm. The chard toast they served the appetizer with was also cold.
I ordered an entrée and after another 30 minutes with no food I closed out my tab and walked away.
This was a terrible experience I left hungry and the service was absolutely the worst service I think I’ve ever had at a restaurant.
From the moment you step inside, you're greeted by the warm, rustic décor. The atmosphere strikes the perfect balance between casual and elegant, making it ideal for both a romantic dinner and a casual night out with friends.
The service at Goat and Vine is impeccable. The staff are not only knowledgeable about the menu, but they also make you feel right at home with their friendly, attentive nature. Our server was quick to recommend some of their signature dishes and guided us through an excellent selection of Italian wines.

Went here for our anniversary. It was very nice. Since it was Wednesday night. Not many customers were. By the time we finished our meal and ordered dessert no one was there so it was like a private experience. Best anniversary celebration! Will be back!
