Ok, the food was ok. Typical smash burger style, made to order. However, it comes dry. I'm thinking it is "DIY" condiments. The fries and onion rings are just frozen from a bag. Ordering is cumbersome at best. You have to bend over, stick your head in the window to have a conversation. I really want to like this place. I will go again hoping for a better experience.

This is an awesome little classic burger shop and while you may be inclined to pull into the more recognizable spot down the street - you would be in error.
The burgers here are very good with proper options for cheese and so on. Fries and onion rings are also solid. The malts however, are really good. This is the only place in the world (not hyperbole.. ) that I have ever seen a Butterscotch Malt, and it is good. I haven't made it to the other options.
All of that and you can generally get out of there for under $20, and you will be full.
It's a better option AND you are supporting a smaller private business.
Local Anna drive in diner. Fun comfort food in a 50s diner setting.

This is a time piece place ,almost everyone who has been in this area has stopped at the malt shop on 5 . 5 was the drag back then and the place to go was the malt shop . It is still going today ,

First time here and wanted to go on a Mommy/Daughter date. We really wanted great shakes so thought this would be the spot.
The Good: service, prices, and the atmosphere if you want to eat there are good. Also the fries look like they are hand cut and were seasoned well.
The Not so Good: I was really excited for my daughter's kids meal to come in the car container.....it didn't. Just a sack. Secondly, the shakes were not good. They were more like chocolate milk. I am not sure if they were just prepared way before our food or what, but the shakes are not thick and cold like you would expect from a malt shop. Also I got malt in mine and didn't taste it at all. Finally the burgers were okay, there was no seasoning on the meat and it wasn't juicy or anything, just a basic fast food burger.
It took about 20 mins for us to get our order and that was with only one couple ahead of us so if you go plan to wait.
I am glad we tried it but I am not sure I would go out of my way to come back.
Always a wonderful lunch. Burger and onion rings. I do miss the jalapeno strips.

One of the best chocolate malts I've had in N. Texas, actually tastes like malt. Pros: Food isn't bad, prices aren't bad, service is friendly but a bit slow. Con: Don't park next to the pointless drive thru, people pull in there like it's their last meal, gravel parking lot and the building could use a paint job.

Was there today and was told 5 minutes to have 2 malts made. Sat in the parking lot for 45 minutes and never got my order. Saw plenty of people that ordered after me get their food and leave. They were not very busy when I was there. I don't like confrontation and I was in a bit of a hurry, so I just left. I guess their 5 minutes is different than my 5 minutes. I guess consider the $12 a donation.
