I went here for lunch today and my total for a beef tip and rice plate with 2 sides which I may add are small with a drink was $26.17!
I paid for a scoop of beef tips and rice which the portion now is even smaller than before when it was on the line and they weighed it in front of you! Same meal cost 12.99 not even 2 years ago and the sides/ containers were larger.
I will never return again.

Unfortunately this place has come to a bad end with customer service, overall experience, and food quality. I started coming here when it first opened and my family loved it! Now itās years later and itās going downhill tremendously. To start the customer service lacks professionalism and friendliness. The staff isnāt rude but they donāt give you anything other than a straight fast and a āwhat elseā question to ask when ordering your food. If youāre ordering anything thatās not on the food line be prepared to wait overly long times. I ordered the lunch special and it came with one piece of fish, I waited over 30 minutes and this was on a day that the store was empty with no other customers. The prices are high and continue to raise, meals donāt even include a drink. For the quality of food and service itās not worth it. Lastly the food just isnāt the same anymore, it lacks seasoning and taste like canned food. The cornbread is cold and lacks flavor. Yams arenāt as sweet anymore, and the greens taste like canned greens. Donāt even consider the dessert, itās also over priced and boxed. I hate to see this place turn this way. The owner was always on site during the earlier years and the food was great which is why it has the buzz it got. Now Iāll rather grab fast food then to pay for overpriced low quality soul food. I love my black owned businesses but I canāt support it when its like this. No longer spending my money here, hopefully the owner cares about his reviews and steps in to make change.

I visited here on 01/09/2026. The cashier was very friendly and pleasant. Which is why I gave āļøāļøāļøāļøāļø and only for the customer service. Order #1 The 1lb beef tip plate. The beef tips were cut into small cubes, extremely dry and tough in spite of being in gravy which was decent. I received about 2 full tablespoons of meat, along with gravy over about a half cup of white rice. In my opinion they are weighing the meat/rice & gravy together to substantiate the 1lb weight. When I questioned the meat portion, I was told that itās already prepared and pre measured into 1lb portions. The mac n cheese tasted like a pre packaged bag of white cheddar pasta, that some fast food chains use. Not good at all and I found nothing soulful about it!! The yams were good, however the cornbread was dry and had a tough texture.
Oder #2 Neck bone Plate- Neck bones lacked seasoning extremely bland and some were tough!! Dirty rice- had somewhat of a watery texture and tasted like a salty sage and white rice soup.
Collard Greens- please just take them off of the menu along with the over baked boxed lemon and strawberry cakes.
Unfortunately, this was a HARD NO for me and a waste of $52.46!

We arrived here and patiently waited 15 minutes in line for our order to be taken. We were going to order food and daiquiris however I noticed a smell when I came in so we decided just to order the daiquiris. When it was our turn to place our order the lady that was making plates dismissed us since we were not ordering food and told us āgo on the other side and waitā while she allowed people behind us to place there order completely ignoring the fact that it was not only our turn to order but that we had also waited our turn. So we decided a place like this is not worth spending my hard earned money at. This place lacks manners and professionalism and we will not be returning!

Update: 11/18/2026 I donāt mind paying for good food but why are the portions and sides sooooo small???? I came back to give another try but to be pricey and the girl serving today the sides are already small and she only gives you half a portion in the already small containers. The price isnāt an issue with me at all I am just confused as why go up on prices and decrease the portion. Highly disappointed and the staff isnāt very friendly, customer service seemed more forced than welcoming.
I like their chicken wings when they are cooked all the way and you don't have to wait forever to get your food

Staff was very friendly and patient. Prices are economical. Itās probably as good as Iām gonna get for soul food in the area. The food was really peppery though.
I walk in and seen the boxes of sweet potatoes in there. I hurried up and ordered me some. Good food. I ate some candied yams not no canned yams like other soul food places. I gave my experience a 9.5/10 only because of limited inside seating but they do have a patio area

Food was fantastic! We had pigās feet, fried catfish, Mac and cheese, greens, dirty rice, green beans, cornbread and red Kool-aid. And a piece of yellow cake to go! It was all delicious and large portions. We are from out of town but will be back when we are in the area!
