Upon the website my peers and I was ready to have the taste of soul food in our mouths.Upon arrival the ambiance was as expected. Rushing back to work, I had to go back as some of my food was missing. There were no apology issued, to make matters worse the 1st bite definitely did not take me back to grandma's house. The greens were bitter, fried chicken was flavorless. We were extremely disappointed as I drove all the way from Ft. Worth. Less is more, guess website and photos can be deceiving ?

Ok-hear me out! The food was delicious but not so delicious that I’d ever pay $65 for 1 meat patty w/ gravy and rice (cornbread + $3) total $21, and catfish/Mac n cheese/collard greens-$23, peach bread pudding-$11, cinnamon sweet tea $2 AGAIN. The disappointment comes not only with overly priced menu and no tap water/fountain tap available-(only bottled at a price), but I was absolutely floored when the dishes were served on paper plates with plastic ware. As good as the food was, it didn’t measure up to the $$ spent. The ambience, music, cleanliness, professionalism, and friendliness was top tier. My experience was good, and I wouldn’t have even mentioned the menu prices had my meal not been presented on a paper plate. That took me out. Please understand that this review is not about budget. We have every right to turn away if budget were the deterrent. The expectation and overall experience just didn’t meet the price paid. Budget is never the issue when it comes to experiencing something new. (Deflection much?). We were not scared of the price nor were we bound to dine there. We were merely captivated by the ambience. Please understand my honest review without offense. $65 to be served food on a paper plate is my point.

AMAZING!!! From the food to the service to the CLEANLINESS of the restaurant! We celebrated a very special birthday here and we’re beyond pleased! And the chocolate tea is phenomenal!! So smooth! We will be back and tell others! I got the smothered chicken plate: DELICIOUS! My family got the catfish and grits, and the Loco Moco and loved them! And the Mac and cheese was on point!! Also, the jazz music playlist was delightful:-)

Wow! We really enjoyed our meal here! The catfish with rice and gravy was delicious! The chicken fried steak plate was chefs kiss! Tenders and tasty...we are full. We tried the sweet cornbread as well and it was great! Thanks Reggie and the excellent cook in the back! We will be back for sure!

My family and I tried S&G for the first time today, and we will definitely be back! We order a little of everything to give it all a try. Catfish, grits, chicken, waffle, French toast, biscuits and gravy were all delicious. Loved being able to “eat local” with Reggie and Mary. Happy 1 year in business.
