Nachos were microwaved. Monterrey plate is advertised to come with fresh veggies, yet when I got my plate, the veggies were microwaved from a bag. Like steamed vegetables from the frozen section. Chips were stale, hard, and thick. Salsa was canned tomatoes. Refried beans were from a can, owner overcharged us and added tip to bill without telling us so essentially the waitress got over a $20 tip. Owner also refused to give us itemized receipt and quickly listed out items we ordered but didn't give us any prices. You have to pay at the front so there was a huge line behind us. I will never ever come back. My sister warned me aboit this place and I defended the owner and everyrhing to get her to try it, what do ya know, my sister was right. The owner is ripping off her customers, especially with the phony ingredients and adding a tip to the bill. Do not go here. Pretty sure they are infested with something especially since they have dead animal heads all over the walls which is peculiar for a restaurant and very nasty.

Food was mediocre at best. Margaritas seemed to be from a mix, not natural. Service was good, nice staff. They declined my legitimate American Express card in a not so discreet fashion.........quite embarrassing. There are much better Tex-Mex restaurants in Dallas. "Killer"

Our first evening in Dallas and we came here for dinner. No one was disappointed. The chips were fresh and crisp, the salsa was a great flavor, enough onion and spice without so much heat to overwhelm. I went for the chicken mole enchiladas, the flavor was great and was surprised that I could eat the full serving. My wife went for the enchilada suiza, also very tasty and a lighter meal than the mole enchiladas. The service was quick and professional. The prices were very affordable. We were seated right away when we arrived. The place was full, a lot of people were enjoying their meal and we joined then. I'm eager to go back and try it again sometime.

Ordered CARNE TAMPIQUEÑA. The description implied it was strips of marinated beef, cooked with bell peppers and onions. Sounds perfect right? My mouth was salivating for a sizzling plate of Carne Asada with peppers and onions served on a sizzling platter. Wrong! What came instead was pale gray strips of beef with limp bell peppers and soggy onions that had all been boiled. There were rivulets of water running around on the plate. I haven't had boiled meat since since my mother served me baby food. I understand this may be a traditional dish, but a better description would've been much appreciated! On the plus side, El Ranchito has massive amounts of character, good chips and good service. I'd go back, but definitely stick to the grilled platters and TexMex.

Cabrito like we make in my home! so good. Stayed hot thanks to the little stove. Homemade flour and corn tortillas! A little loud, but really great music!

The food was delicious and it was served promptly. If you are a lady that is not steady on your feet be aware of going into the lady's room. There is a small step down that can be a surprise trip hazard and the toilet is on a pedestal that requires a big step up without handrails

When they are busy they treat you so fast and like crap. Last time we went one a waitress and our server were even talking about us because he got my order wrong. I wasn't even rude or anything. Idk when it's busy just avoid them in general.

Food is good but what this place is great for is the ambiance. You have mariachi playing all night and the place is always full with birthday celebrations. It is great to enjoy a meal with people having fun and celebrating life around you. Food we have had - Guacamole: good Queso w chorizo: awesome Quesadilla: really good, though we are usually too full after the guac and queso, so we take it home. It is an easy warm up in our pizza oven. Horchata: delicious Fajitas: good, too big in my opinion, but very tasty. Definitely not Chili's - haha. This is the real thing.

I have gone to this restaurant for years and enjoyed it very much however the past three or four times I have been here I have found it to be ok at best and very overpriced. Fajitas for two at about $40 and for that price in this location I would expect more beef, more rice and beans, more than 4 tortillas, and something beyond pico de gallo in the setup! Chintzy. There are places across the river WAY better and cheaper. I'm done with one of my old standbys.

I would give 2.75 stars... chips and salsa were not good very mediocre. The chicken quesadilla was good that I had.. but the guacamole actually made my stomach hurt when I had 1 bite. So I wouldn't come back here. My husband said the fajitas (combo $20) were ok and that the beanS and rice were not good had a slimy feel to them. I'll stick to going to Campuzanos.
