Decided to try a new BBQ place tonight. Reviews were mixed but mostly good so we gave it a shot. The decor is great, outdoorsy with a lot of deer, boar, elk, etc. mounts, old saddles. And they were playing 70's disco music which we happen to like and at a reasonable level. Quick service (to be fair we were the only ones there at the time) I ordered the 3 meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, and St. Louis ribs. Sides of fried okra and potato salad. Wife ordered a brisket sandwich and sides of baked beans. The brisket was fair. It had a decent bark but from what I could tell little to no smoke ring. Flavor was okay but missing the smoke. The pulled pork was pretty tough and I didn't care much for the flavor. You get 1 rib. It was nice and tender, pulled from the bone pretty easy but again, missing smoke. The okra was amazing. Unlike many places that use frozen, pre-breaded okra this was fresh okra and fried when I ordered it. Very tasty with a nice, crunchy breading and since it wasn't frozen it had a bit of a bite (not all mushy). The potato salad was also very good. Not sure if it is house made or purchased but it was one of the better potato salads I've had. The BBQ sauce neither of us cared for. It's more of a 'Carolina' style with too much vinegar. The brisket sandwich would have been better if they toasted the bun. The baked beans I'm pretty sure were just canned beans not homemade. Price was about what you would expect from a BBQ place, we spent $40 for the meal.

Really tough brisket today. BBQ sauce wasn't very good. Prices 9.74 for 1/4 brisket no sides and large ice tea. Won't be back

Finally decided to give this place a try and sadly we regret doing so. Placed a delivery order and when it arrived a portion of the order was completely missing. Strike one. Ordered the angus burger: the patty itself was decent enough with a nice flavor but the veggies were wilted and old, as if they had been sitting around in the open all day. The worst part was the bun which was obviously under-baked. That resulted in a bottom half that was so doughy that it was virtually inedible. Crisp veggies and a fresh bun are essential to a good burger and this one failed miserably. Strike two. Lastly was the sausage poboy basket arrived without the fries, which was one of the things we looked forward to as we love homemade fries. That was the just the start of the disappointment. Not only were the fries missing but the poboy itself was laughable with a plain, untoasted bun and a few paltry slices of sausage thrown in the middle. Whoever called this a "po-boy" should truly be ashamed of themselves. Strike three. Generally we try to give a new place at least two visits because we understand anyone could have an off day but there is very little here to encourage us to ever try Charlie's again. Just too many strikes first time out.

Cheap bastards! My paper bag had some leaky side in it and the bottom completely gave way, leaving my $21 lunch all over the parking lot. 1 sandwich, 2 sides, and you a$$holes can't even bother with putting it in a plastic bag. (Which were sitting right by the register.) Guess who just lost a customer?

Great bake potatoes with sliced beef! Burgers are good too! Their fries are even better!

Love this place. Family friendly. Friendly service. Food comes out quick and fresh. When I am in area, I will always choose them over fast food. They have daily specials. Highly recommend.

Came here with a friend and we both really enjoyed it! Brisket and spicy sausage I got tasted fantastic, and the sides were just as good. I specifically recommend the gravy on the mashed potato's. Definitely going to come back with my parents some time. Overall great experience, my only problem was the menu being a little small to read, but I was still able to read it ether way. You should totally go here if you're in the mood for some good BBQ!

I was visiting Texas and wanted to go and eat a good barbecue, someone recommended this restaurant and it wasn’t fantastic. I order 3 meats lunch with Brisket, Sausage and Pulled Pork and totally satisfied with flavor. Great place!

I have had several catered events from these guys. Excellent food and prices. Good service. Going to have an event in August. I will use them again.

I purchased $136.00 worth of food. Asked for bread, no bread. Paid for two peach cobbler, no cobbler. Paid for chopped brisket sandwich, no sandwich. I made a cardinal mistake of not checking the order. However, a customer who spends that kind of cash should have someone, probably the cashier, check the contents of the bags. Maybe napkins, no napkins. People were waiting and I did not want to hold up the other patrons. I live a good distance from Bellaire so it would do no good to call and I was not going to drive through rush hour traffic for a sandwich. Caveat Emptor! Chalk it to lesson learned. Blood Brother's was closed so I went to Charlie's. Won't make that mistake again. Only recourse is to post the experience and express my dissatisfaction. Beef ribs are more rib than beef especially at price per pound. No one wore masks. Isn't that a health code violation. I will call the Dept. of Health and ask.

Totally not recommending. I should have known by looking at the other reviewers' pictures. The brisket was way overcooked, dry and old. Bbq sauce didn't help, it was too salty and tangy. I usually like tangy and sweet but this is zero sweet and very tangy/salty. Side dishes were just edible, but they tasted better than the brisket and bbq sauce. The price was higher than other local places that range from $13-15, this plate of single meat brisket costed $17 plus taxes/tips. Not worth it at all.

Tried the ribs, sausage and the brisket. It was ok, not the worst I had, but I wouldn't say it was good. The sides are very plain. I tried the Mac and cheese, mash potatoes and potatoes Au gratin. Very runny and again very plain tasting. Service was just as bad, they seemed very busy even thought the place wasn't.

First time to try this place out. The friendliness and customer service was a little dry like the brisket. My mother is in her senior years and obviously trying figure out the menu the guy was rushing her instead of taking 30 seconds to explain the menu. Sausage and pulled pork are rather good along with the sauce. The brisket was very dry and seemed to have been over smoked. I most likely will not be back too many other bbq joints in Houston for a repeat. If your the owner, train your staff to be friendly to the customers.
