When we arrived in Blanco we decided to get some iced coffee. I had one with oat milk and it was White chocolate Raspberry. It was wonderful. My wife had an iced mocha.

Buchanan’s Coffee House is usually my go-to spot whenever I’m in town. They have a great selection of pastries, the ambiance is warm and welcoming, and when the coffee order is right, it’s really good. That’s why this review is a bit disappointing to write—this was the first time they’ve missed the mark for me.
I ordered a large hot chai latte, but the interaction at the register immediately threw me off. First, I was asked if I wanted a 16oz or 20oz after already saying “large.” Then I was asked if I wanted milk… in a latte. That genuinely confused me, since a latte obviously comes with milk. I clarified regular milk just to avoid ending up with hot water and a tea bag.
While waiting, I overheard the next order—a 20oz iced latte with simple syrup—and the cashier seemed confused about what simple syrup was. The customer had to point it out on the menu, another coworker stepped in to help, and I swear she said she didn’t know how to spell “syrup.” At that point, I was honestly wondering what I was witnessing.
Then came the kicker: when my name was called, it was an iced chai latte, not hot. I didn’t have the energy to correct it, so I just took it and left… and now I’m here spending that energy writing this review instead because it stuck with me.
I didn’t want to leave a bad review because my past experiences here have been consistently positive. If this cashier is new, then training is definitely needed—because mistakes like this turn into frustration especially when a drink is almost $8 and tip is becoming an expectation rather than optional for a simple drink order.
Still a solid coffee shop overall, and I’ll likely be back, but this visit was a miss.

Driving thru blanco and needed a cup of coffee. The drinks were great— Americano, chai latte and vanilla latte. Everyone was so nice and the quiche was delicious. Great small town coffeeshop.

We ordered numerous items:
Dutch oyster grilled cheese - fabulous
Coffee cake - terrible, there was something off with the batter or something
Turkey bacon panini - good
Turkey pesto panini - a bit overpowering on the pesto
Bacon egg cheese croissant - good
Gingerbread latte hot - a little too much spice but good
Cortado - I prefer mine smoother
Pecan praline latte iced - so good
The Chai special hot - good

Wow! This place is a gem. The drink selections are unmatched in the area. I had the Golden chai, and you can tell it’s crafted with quality products. The sandwiches we had were fresh and flavored well. I had the pesto egg croissant and added ham. This is my favorite coffee house in the hill country.

Buchanan’s Coffee House is a charming and welcoming spot that checks all the boxes for a pleasant coffee stop. The shop has a cozy, inviting atmosphere with both indoor and outdoor seating options that are comfortable and thoughtfully arranged. Parking is easy, with convenient access just off the road.
The drinks stand out—both the Wildcatter and the Iced Mocha were flavorful and well-balanced, making it clear that the coffee here is crafted with care. They also offer ice-cold water, which is a nice and often overlooked touch, especially on warm days.
Staff were friendly and attentive, creating a relaxed and upbeat vibe throughout the visit. Prices are in line with most coffee houses, making it a great value for the quality. Overall, Buchanan’s provides a great mix of convenience, atmosphere, and good coffee—worth a visit whether you’re just passing through or looking for a local favorite.

Buchanan’s Coffee House in Blanco is such a gem! The coffee is fantastic, the shop is super cute, and the service is always great. Even when it’s busy, the staff are kind, efficient, and on top of keeping everything clean and welcoming. I’m obsessed with the Hanna Banana iced coffee—banana and Nutella? Yes, please! My husband is a big fan of the “Alfredito” espresso drink. We always make a point to stop in whenever we’re passing through town for job sites. Highly recommend!
