We live across the street and have tried this place three times before posting this review. We had high hopes.

The food is just not good nor flavorful. We found meat in our salsa.

The place is quite a dive… that can mean good and bad things. In this instance, it’s just not good. The ceiling tiles are stained. Our booth wasn’t clean and torn up… and there’s just an off putting smell.

This was just a plain disappointment. The original El Rey is completely different and we like it much more.

PLEASE POST A LEGITIMATE MENU!!! Your food blows the other location out of the water! I believe it will increase business! Many people like to look at a menu before heading to the restaurant. Especially for pick up orders

El Rey #2: A Hidden Gem on the Texas Road Trip!

El Rey #2 in Henly, TX isn't just a restaurant, it's a delightful pitstop for any traveler. After a long drive from Austin, my family and I stumbled upon this gem, and let me tell you, we were blown away!

Five-star flavors: The food is where El Rey #2 truly shines. Authentic Mexican dishes bursting with flavor, all prepared fresh. We especially loved the fajita rellena, but everything looked incredible. Bonus points for having a fantastic selection of gluten-free options that didn't compromise on taste!

Family feel, friendly service: The warm atmosphere felt like stepping into a family gathering. The servers were incredibly kind and attentive, making sure our every need was met.

Relaxing retreat: El Rey #2 offers something for everyone. Comfortable seating lets you unwind after a long journey. While the adults enjoyed the full bar, the kids had a blast playing pool.

Perfect for road-trippers: If you're looking for a delicious, family-friendly restaurant to refuel on your Texas adventure, El Rey #2 is the place to be. Highly recommend!

I am glad we came in! The food was very good. It was very fresh and flavorful. It all did need salt and the tortillas did not taste homemade but everything else was very good!! The flavors were definitely there! I'm glad we got to add salt to our taste.Thank you!

Quick, very casual tex-mex cantina and good (considering it's in the middle of nowhere, next to a gas station!) The kitchen is open until 9pm most nights, the bar open until 10pm most nights. We approve of the skinny margarita with real lime juice and we split a chicken fajita chimichanga. The owners have the original spot in Dripping Springs we've visited a few times.
