We´ve enjoyed Curren´s restaurants for years - and the new lunch spot is as good as we expected. He keeps it simple, as always, sandwiches or salad (with choice of meat), seasoned fries and drink fo 10$. We had salad with cheeseburger (my husband´s choice) and pulled pork sandwich - outstanding. And best fries I ever had! We´d love to return this week but, unfortunately, the chef will be out till October. Highly recommended!
This has become a regular place for us. The cheeseburger is just right, and I appreciate the fact that he allows you to put your own condiments on it. The fries are seasoned and not bland. My son loves the pulled pork too. It's a fun little place to stop and visit. Cash only, friendly, fresh cooked
Burger perfection This place is amazing! We stopped for lunch and I got a cheeseburger and my husband got a patty melt. Both were outstanding! The patty melt had grilled onions and mushrooms. Even the fries were great! The owner/chef brought out some brisket tacos for us to sample and they were the incredible! Absolutely recommend!
Lucky Guy is great! We went there for lunch for a burger, but the propane was being refilled. We asked what he could make for us and he said he would whip something up. He came back with the best burritos filled with barbacoa and they were AMAZING! When you go hungry for something specific and come away amazed and fully satisfied that is the sign of a great chief. You owe it to yourself to try this place, or better yet to be a frequent visitor!
I met a friend from Glen Rose for lunch at Lucky Guy in Bluff Dale today, which he recommended from a prior visit. The menu is short, primarily sandwiches and a chef salad, served with very good seasoned fries and your choice of drink for $10, cash only. I had a pulled pork sandwich, which was piled about 1.5" high with flavorful, moist, smoky pork, not hidden by a sauce. Pete had a patty melt, a burger patty with grilled onions and cheese served inside grilled sourdough bread. Both were delicious, and more than ample for lunch. It's definitely a place to return to. The owner/chef said he's working on having dinners with a 5-6 course tasting menu sometime in the future, well worth checking out.

Curren's food is phenomenal! He was fabulous at Let's Eat and doesn't miss a beat at Lucky Guy. We tried every dish and they were all delicious. So glad he's back!
Amazing food. The burger and fries was awesome. The seasoning on the fries gives them a great flavor. The cook was super nice. Will be back again.
Wow what a find! We had the patty melt which was delicious and the cheeseburger. We were very happy with both orders. They are cash only but well worth the price. The fries are very seasoned, which we liked but if you're not into seasoned fries I would ask for light or no seasoning. Will for sure be back when coming through town.
Excellent!!!

We’ve been driving by Lucky Guy for several months and finally decided to stop and give them a try. The burgers are delicious and the fries are seasoned to perfection. We eaten there 3 times this week!! Lucky Guy's may not fancy to the look at the food is 5 stars.
Ordered the hamburger and pulled pork sandwiches. The hamburger was delicous. The meat was cooked and seasoned perfect. The fries had a nice zing to them. Reminded me of BBQ potato chips. The pulled pork was tender and not dry at all. You can also request plain fries with just salt. Be warned that it is "Cash Only".
Bluff Dale, Texas- Curren Dodds is a local celebrity chef who owned the famous Let's Eat restaurant for 14 years in Bluff Dale. Back in 2017, Dodds closed up that restaurant and moved to Wisconsin. In 2019, he moved back to Texas and has recently opened a new and unique lunch spot. Dodds renovated a shipping container where the entire inside is a kitchen. Dodds came up with the idea of Lucky Guy when he grew tired of commuting 45 minutes to Fort Worth for work every day. Pulling up to the kitchen inside the shipping container, Lucky Guy, you will feel like you are not in a small town anymore. The outside is covered in colorful spray paint with the words Lucky Guy, a mushroom, and a burger. The shipping container's atmosphere is entirely outdoors with picnic table seating or the comfort of your car. The vibe Lucky Guy gives off is unique and highly aesthetically appeasing. Sitting outside is a part of the experience, but you will not be eating and soaking it up alone. Chickens, roosters, and turkeys are free roaming the property. Do not worry, they mostly keep to themselves. During my first experience eating here I did not realize it was only cash. What could have turned into making a U-turn and going home transpired to be a great experience. Dodds offered for me to enjoy my lunch and afterwards go to an ATM. He treats his customers like they are his family. Even though it is only cash, Dodds makes it convenient to where each meal is exactly $10. Everything on the menu comes with his homemade and seasoned fries. The burger is prepared fresh and hand-pattied every day. During my first visit, I chose the burger and fries and savored every bite. The burger was fresh, juicy, full of flavor, and the crunch of the crisp lettuce and tomatoes were the perfect combination. As for the homemade fries, they were hot and seasoned with a flavorful spice. Dodds made a dipping sauce for the fries which was a smoked jalapeno aioli sauce. This sauce is the cherry on top of this savoring experience. Since I have tasted and experienced Dodds's cooking in previous years at Let's Eat I know how unique and talented he is when it comes to creating new menu items. "I make my own ham and pastrami. A local and homemade pastrami sandwich will be on the menu pretty soon," says Dodds. The ham and cheese sandwich is not the typical ham and cheese sandwich. Dodds's homemade ham is unlike any ham you can get locally. It is thick cut, tender and bathed in his homemade seasoning. Next, he adds roasted poblano on to the white cheddar pimento cheese seared bread which effectively holds the entire sandwich together. Dodds dream for Lucky Guy does not stop at the freshly prepared food he currently delivers. "In the next year, I plan on pairing up with local wineries and doing a food and wine pairing dinner. Right behind Lucky Guy is an old greenhouse where I plan to restore and turn it into a garden sitting area for the dinners." Lucky Guy's menu changes weekly, but it mostly contains sandwiches and fries. Lucky Guy is open from 11 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. He is also available in the evenings for catering.
The guy was quick and friendly and the food was excellent, we will be coming back! The burger was thick and juicy. The quantity of the food was just right and so was the price! It's a unique place and I hope it continues to deliver exceptional food!
I’ve eaten here multiple times. Amazing. Every. Single. Time. Bless your taste buds with these sandwiches, burgers & fries. If you haven’t tried it you’re missing out to say the least.
