I’ve been going to Mel’s for about three weeks and the food is delicious, hot, and really more than I can eat. Their fish dinners or chicken fried steaks are mouthwatering. The homemade pies are great too. Very friendly people that seem to really like their job. If you don’t try them out, you’re missing out…….big time.

I was so hungry that I forgot to take a pic of my food, but it was delicious. I found this place with a google search and stopped here based on the reviews, so I wanted to be sure to come back and leave my own. The staff was very friendly, the daily special (chicken fried steak) was delicious, and the atmosphere was perfect for a “home cooking” restaurant in a small town. We would definitely stop again if we are ever back this way.

Ordered the hamburger steak for yesterday's lunch, was not good was supposed to come with okra came with dried out lentils (peas) or what ever you call them. The hamburger steak was a hamburger patty with some red onion on it. Was dry and looked burned. The toast wasn't even tasty!(This was to go orders) everyone in the crowd was disappointed

Great lunch specials, friendly wait staff, local eating establishment, worth stopping by when in the area. Grounded right at noontime recommend being early or late or you may have to wait for a table but it will be worth your time.

Cute little place out in the country. Friday night fish, shrimp, frog legs separate or combos. Hush puppies are delicious. We split a piece of chocolate pie and my husband said it tasted like his mamas!

We went on Friday afternoon and enjoyed the best fried fish, fried shrimp, and fried frog legs. Homemade hush puppies that were like air, lightly crisped on the outside and not undercooked on the inside. Nothing greasy and all freshly cooked. Staff was a delight with excellent table service. Then desert, 5-6 different pies. We had the blueberry cream cheesecake, peaches and cream cheesecake, and kids wanted the buttermilk pie. This small place serves up big flavors. Plates came with 3 sides. Again another discovered gem here in the east Texas countryside. I am attaching pics of our food and their menu. A must visit restaurant and make sure to bring your appetite.
