We were passing through and based on reviews, I thought we'd give it a try. Thumbs up from all of us! Mom had the catfish, my husband had the chicken fried steak and I had a burger with bacon. All fantastic! The town square itself is super cute too. I wish I had time to visit some of the shops.

Truly a one of a kind stop that you should do. Great food, good atmosphere. I had a spinach salad, topped with a few shrimp.

It was an absolute pleasure eating here for lunch. I travel quite a bit, and I'm always looking for a decent burger. Unfortunately and surprisingly so, as simple as a burger is to make delicious, good ones are far and few between. This wasn't just a decent burger, I would say the best I've eaten and possibly the best in Texas!
I had a clear view of the kitchen, and it was beautifully clean. The kitchen and waitstaff were smiling, taking pride in what they were doing, and looked to me like they enjoyed working there. Judging by the burger, I can imagine the rest of the menu is probably fantastic! I am looking forward to getting back to Carthage because this is a MUST stop restaurant!!
Thanks again, Texas Tea room!

I had the privilege of eating here while on a trip for work. The wait staff were friendly and attentive enough. Food was really good; I had the chicken fried steak with potatoes and green beans. My colleague had the salmon and he said his was really good, too. I thought the pricing was fair. I would definitely eat there again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a nice meal in Carthage.

A hidden treasure! I think we went around the "circle" 10 times, and we saw this little quaint Café and had to stop. I'm in a manual wheelchair ??‍? so my friend had to park and go make sure it was wheelchair accessible. After deciding how we'd get up on the sidewalk (there was a ramp, but we had to walk 1/2 a block), we walked to the restaurant. We could smell the deliciousness the closer we got.

It was lunchtime that was obvious because almost every seat was taken! It was literally bursting at the seams in there. It was hopping with the chatter from the locals and the clink of silverware meeting plates as people scrapped up every bite. We found one small table for 2 right at the door... literally right by the door jam.

We munched on the free chips and salsa while perusing the menu. We are bothing eating very wisely as we are on a weight loss journey. I've lost 100 lbs in 11 months, and most restaurants don't have much that I can eat. I noticed their healthy choices of soups and salads, and I got excited. My friend got a soup and I got a cobb salad. I did have some ingredients changed but our server was so kind and did a wonderful job.

The food was superb. I felt like I was at a 5 ⭐️ restaurant ... that's why I gave them 5 ⭐️'s. My friend slurped up her soup and my fork was making the clink, clink, clinking as it hit my plate, just as the local were. We ate far too fast but the food was absolutely divine, not to mention the good service. People finished and left just in time for someone else to come in. There was someone waiting to be seated the entire time we were there. It's an experience you must have. We didn't just find a new favorite place to eat when we go to Carthage...eating at The Texas Tea Room was an entire experience that I think everyone must have! Drop by and eat while enjoying the small town love!

Wheelchair accessibility: It's hard to find a ramp to get up on the sidewalk. The ramp is at the ends of the block on both sides. The restaurant is small, but I did get my wheelchair in just fine, but the restrooms are not wheelchair friendly.

We were in the area for the night and were tired of road food. Reviews looked good, so we tried it and now heartily recommend it! Service was prompt and attentive w/o any pushiness. Wings as an appetizer were very good. Hot and not too heavily breaded / battered / whatever. My wife had the shrimp and grits - delicious! (I tasted it). How they cooked the bacon wrapped shrimp so that the bacon was nicely done and the shrimp still had the “burst” - cooked, but not at all overdone, I’ll never know. I opted for the beef medallions. They came rare (as ordered), were very tasty, as were the (real!) mashed potatoes, and the zucchini was prepared simply but perfectly - fresh, cooked, but still with a little bite to them. All around great meal. We’ll certainly be back next time we pass through!
