Country Cousins in Centerville, TX was an unexpected and pleasant surprise !

BBQ served up properly on a tray … large portions and plenty of sides at a very reasonable price.

Atmosphere is completed with circa 1950’s memorabilia of metal signs once belonging to companies that helped define the Texas oil boom and Wild West.

Staff was friendly and helpful making it seem like a family atmosphere.

The biggest surprise to me was their fried okra as it was very tasty, well fried without leaving a fried nor soggy okra taste. Crunchy and worth ordering.

In fact the okra was so good, I ordered another serving.

It was mehhh ill go across the street from now on tho. For 1 reason and 1 reason only. I got brisket and smoked turkey. Brisket ehhh 3out of 5. The turkey on the other hand was lunch meat slices stacked 5-7 slices high cubed and smoked. Personally if I wanted sandwich meat id eat at home🤷

Everything was the best we could ask for. I took our orders home but definitely want to go back for the dinning experience. Looks like a wonderful place to be.
We had stuffed baked potatoes. I'm addicted to them now.

JUST KEEP DRIVING! I sat and waited 52 minutes for my pick up order which is completely ridiculous when the place is empty.. now that I tried the food I know why the place was empty.. it’s horrible with zero seasoning or finesse. I got half a pound of brisket that tasted like tree bark zero flavor and zero moisture, gross. My sides were not any better mash tasted like water down garbage. During the whole 50 min wait did someone acknowledge us and let us know of a issue just stared at us while we waited a hour for our food. Horrible experience I really regret pulling in I should have trusted my gut when I seen it was empty. Go across the street to woodys j had a much better experience! Never again.
What a waste of a afternoon and a waste of $50
Definitely do not recommend.

Don't go out of your way to experience BBQ here. The brisket is hardly smoked. Plus it's tough and dry. The pinto beans are smoky and pretty good. The mac and cheese is nothing special at all.

Excellent BBQ, reasonably priced and I'm a huge fan of the decor inside the place with old porcelain oil and gas signage.

Comparable to Dickey's BBQ - might be slightly worse. Don't come here and think this is the standard for TX BBQ.

Brisket was dry, ham was dry, bread was dry but like bag left open for too long dry but not yet stale. Mac and cheese was dry, warmed up in the microwave? Peach cobbler tastes like canned peaches with a breading that has no sweetness without the peaches. Green beans and sweet tea were the highlights of the $25 meal.

Service was slow, quick to order but took a few min to get my food with no visible ppl ordering before me. Also, the meat is pre weighed, not sliced/chopped in front of you, so it's aka McDonald's style where it's a small portion in paper in a warmer. Prob the reason why it's so dry versus a traditional BBQ space that has the whole ham/brisket etc in the warmer and then slice off portions as needed.

The food ain't bad persay but definitely better choices in all directions a few miles out.
