Found the museum & grounds very educational. Would highly recommend this stop. Out across the field you can see the rim of the Palo Duro Canyon.

We travel frequently between Dallas and Amarillo and have repeatedly said "next time we'll stop here." Well, this time we did and it was terrific! We learned a lot from Melissa, our enthusiastic and interesting tour guide. So glad we took the time!

If you are anywhere in the area, this is a great stop. A well restored piece of US history in the Great Plains, and Texas history from the Wild West. Pay for the tour, it is worth it, and learn about how Mrs. Goodnight is responsible for the American Bison not being entirely extinct. If you know nothing about the area, maybe read about the Palo Duro Canyon and Quannah Parker before you go.

We were not sure what to expect. The guided tour by Mellissa was interesting and filled with the kind of information that makes history come alive. Now we want to learn more about Charlie and Molly Goodnight.

We learned about the Charles and Mary Ann Goodnight Ranch State Historic Site when we saw it on one of the episodes of “The Texas Bucket List”. We then planned our visit when we were in the area. The site’s staff was very friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the history of the place. Highly recommended place to visit and place on your “bucket list”.

The Center employees were very welcoming and knowledgeable! There were three short films which gave nice historical background on the Goodnights. We loved the stature of Molly feeding the baby bison. How grateful we are for the vision that Charles and Molly had to preserve the bison herd! This is such an important part of Texas history. My husband is a history buff and he especially enjoyed seeing the home, which has been so thoughtfully restored. This Center has a big heart!

We just took the tour (about 45 minutes) and our guide was a well-informed local historian. It was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend.
