Hilltop Restaurant and Herb Garden

I had my wedding rehearsal dinner here and it was lovely. The chef worked with us to make a menu that everyone loved. He even added okra specially for my mom! They were very thoughtful and even serenaded us at dinner. It was a wonderful experience and the food was great!

We came by around 2pm last Saturday. Locked behind a gate.....Is this open to the public?

We had planned a special weekend for my visiting grandson and were all really looking forward to going to the restaurant and seeing the alligators. We called the number for reservations on Monday and left a message, as we were instructed to do. Wednesday, we had not heard anything, so we attempted to call again to confirm, but had no response. We called today, Friday, September 16, 2022 and were told that our reservations had been "lost" and they had a large group come in, so we were out of luck. If the reservation system is this inefficient and/or the people working there are this lackadaisical, I think my money would be best spent somewhere else. I will not be going back, at least not any time soon. Very disappointed, as this was to be something special for our grandson.

Took over an hour for appetizer of dry bread and canned tomato tapenade. Seven total tables with two waitresses, waiting on two sandwiches.

This restaurant closed during COVID, but recently reopened with new owners. The menu is casual, with burgers, sandwiches and several other items. We started with the twisted zucchini. A small order was plenty for the two of us. It was beyond excellent! The batter was very light and crispy and the sauce was wonderful. For our main course, I had a bowl of gumbo. It was also very good with lots of chunks of sausage and just the right level of spice. My wife had the fried shrimp and onion strings. The shrimp was very good, while the onion strings (while flavorful) were just a tad over cooked. Overall, this visit exceeded my expectations and we’re planning many returns!

Great experience even though they had some staffing issues this evening we still had wonderful service & the food was served in a timely manner & it was delicious … ty … we will be back ❤️

I absolutely enjoyed the food 100%! The atmosphere is amazing! They make all the food so delicious!! The staff is friendly! Make sure to stop by and say hello to their celebrity snapper turtle,Raphael! He was on Coyote Pearson's "brave wilderness"! There is also a special little duck that is so sweet - he will say hello to you!!They made our 10 yr anniversary so special with the quality food we ate!!
